Hi, Rhana from AdBlock here. We've had a report, confirmed by us, that Technobuffalo.com now shows those bloody RevDefender ads (which also bring back the lovely Taboola ads, bless their evil hearts).

It's establishing multiple websocket connections from bulletproofserving.com and pulling ads from adservers via the websocket connection, block it and you won't endure any more ads.

@Rhana, adblock plus in the last dev build is blocking the websockets, so .. it's matter of time "your" AB will get the same functionality ;)
Test ABP last build: https://adblockplus.org/en/development- ... stallation
the last build fixed also the slickdeals.net issue (issue 4298)

Hey guys, quick update: Those disgusting ads are still unblocked on Technobuffalo.com in Chrome with ABP Dev build 1.12.4.1685, either with @intense's filters above or without. Any suggestions?

God, aren't they? So gross. And unfortunately, those filters aren't working, in AdBlock, ABP, or ABP dev, in Chrome, even after clearing cache/cookies and resetting settings. (No joy in Edge either.)

BTW, uBO 1.9.16 blocks those stupid ads without Tampermonkey, straight out of the box. Damn.

@smed79: Thanks, but I meant to ask, "What does it mean that I see that in the console," not "What does it mean to look for something in the console." I appreciate the effort, though.
@intense: I swear I had only ABP dev enabled and only those filters. Aaaaaand, now they're working in ABP dev and ABP (separately, of course). Sheesh. I have no idea what changed between when they weren't working and now.

Was blocked without issue for the longest time, however about 2-3 months ago ads began appearing on the site. Because at the time I was not aware of this forum, I reported it on a subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comment ... ource=link) for Google Chrome thinking maybe I had set something incorrectly or who knows what else. A user there was able to determine the cause of the reappearance of ads and updated EasyList to resolve it. However as of a few days ago, ads have begun reappearing and I've done everything I know how to do to resolve it on my end (add/remove lists from uBlock Origin, clear UBO cache and redownload lists, clear Google Chrome cache).
I have no idea if the site is displayed without ads on Mozilla Firefox with uBlock Origin.
I see ads on the front page sometimes, these are of the click-bait kind, these ads are inside a sourceless iframe (technobuffalo.com##iframe:not[src]) hides them).
I believe the site may be using network request like https://cdn.video.playwire.com/1014786/videos/5271149/video-sd-107.ts to download ad data, but I can't confirm, as I can't get these ads consistently. There is a whole lots of such requests in that site.
No, still get ads. The RTCDataChannel is opened in an inline script at the top of the page.

This should not happen and does not happen on my side, there is a filter in EasyList that prevent this: *$websocket,domain=technobuffalo.com. The only websocket I see is from Disqus -- which is legit.

Turns out the site is abusing WebRTC to work around blockers. I updated uBO-Extra to deal with this, I suggest to install if not done already, or update if so: https://github.com/gorhill/uBO-Extra/releases/tag/2.3.
