Continuation of threads 57237, 21040, 14452 and 79741.

When logging out from the international GMX mailbox (and arriving to https://www.gmx.com/logout/), with the default EasyPrivacy and EasyList enabled, if you wait a few seconds, a static ad branded with the Google AdSense logo, but served from gmx.com, will appear on top on the news:

This ad is geolocated, and often specific to the city I live in. It seems like GMX is acting as a middleman between my computer and Google, but I can't confirm this.

The following filter blocks these ads, and some suspicious subdocuments, without loss of functionality:

||i0.gmx.com/image/*$document,subdocument,image

EDIT: Blocking completely the subdomain i0.gmx.com will also block the pictures for some news articles.

Do you have a filter list for 'Acceptable Ads' enabled?

None to my knowledge. My current filters in uBlock origin are:

  • all uBlock-specific filters
  • EasyList
  • AdGuard URL Tracking Protection
  • Block Outsider Intrusion into LAN
  • EasyPrivacy
  • Online Malicious URL Blocklist
  • Peter Lowe's Ad and tracking server list
  • AdGuardSpanish/Portuguese
  • EasyList Spanish
