I am inclined not to specifically block the frame given that there is no especially advantageous general filter that may be composed and that the area is not actually displayed to the user.

The filter ||nytimes.com/js/app/article/upnext.js should remove the unwanted script.

That seems to have worked, all I did was copy paste it into the last line of Adblock Options Blacklist 'manual edit' box and save.
