Disable all other extensions, keep only your adblocker then test again (without
hosts file).

Wired forces to disable the Adblock
Code: Select all
http://www.wired.com/2015/11/clive-thompson-10/
Blocking that script
Code: Select all
http://www.wired.com/assets/load?scripts=true&c=1&load%5B%5D=jquery-sonar,wpcom-lazy-load-images,outbrain,blockadblock,tracking,ads,wired,wp-embed
Unlocks the content.
Anyone can add to Easylist?

Code: Select all
http://www.wired.com/assets/load?scripts=true&c=1&load%5B%5D=jquery-sonar,wpcom-lazy-load-images,outbrain,blockadblock,tracking,ads,wired,wp-embed
is not working.. do something about that... and please post new filters

So what? That is the nature of this game. Do you give up and leave it broken for users?

funkydude..... best idea for bypassing adblock for wired.com.... i think is to use "BehindTheOverlay" extension which can be downloaded from here
Code: Select all
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/behindtheoverlay/ljipkdpcjbmhkdjjmbbaggebcednbbme?hl=en
this is the best way so far!!!!!

Same as with Forbes: If someone is willing to install a whole new extension you could just get uBlock Origin.

Wired.com - Here’s The Thing With Ad Blockers

I need help blocking the splash screen that is preventing me from reading this article (and likely others on the site)
http://www.wired.com/2016/08/california-city-fending-off-zika-releasing-40000-mosquitoes-every-week/
I need it for Safari 5, Chrome, and firefox.

Tried this and the splash screen still blocked me from reading the mosquito article. The only thing that "works" so far is stopping the page from loading midway and try to skim read asap and keep refreshing/ stopping the page in mid load.
I got the gist of the article but wish I could read it at a more relaxed pace.

Keep only 1 adblocker, disable all other blocking stuff, test again.

Disabled Adblock. Kept adblock Plus and still having the issue. Seems stopping the page from loading fully is the only way, but I don't know if it will always buy me enough time to finish reading the article. Trying to read about foxes lol.
http://www.wired.com/2016/08/save-endangered-fox-humans-turned-home-war-zone/#slide-1
Okay I tested 1 page I loaded and didn't interrupt its loading. The 2nd I interrupted. The splash screen loaded on the uninterrupted page.

Did you add the filters correctly ?
Disable all other extensions, keep only ABP, see if works

Disabled all but adblock plus. Worked until I hit the mouse scrollbar to read down the page. As soon as the mouse scrolls, it activates the splash screen.

Okay I tried adding each of the filters in separately. Different splash screen, but still same effect.
"Thank You
All of us at WIRED appreciate your support!"
Clicking on the button seems to have stopped it for now? I hope they aren't going to start charging me somehow.
