#Elements do not show hits. They don't get 'counted'.

What are all the posts in this thread that keep getting deleted before I read them? I get an email since I'm subscribed to the thread, but when I click the link, I just get "The topic or post you requested does not exist". Like for posts 3326, 3332 and 3338.

I deleted one from here recently. We've been getting some 'human spam' lately. I deleted one a couple of days ago. rbsterli and IceDogg have the power to delete them too.

Then there is the possibly that a member is deleting his own post.

Okay, that's probably it. Whee, spam.

Yeah, but three times over three days? Unlikely.

It was probably just spam. I killed one yesterday while the poster was still online.

We've received a few lately .... those are the ones that you probably got notified on and someone deleted. Some people have nothing better to do.

I ran a database maintenance recently to try to clear up the error we've been getting with the sessions table filling up. When you run a maintenance it will restore posts that never made it to the board because of invalid characters. This usually results in multiple posts though, not missing posts.

This morning the sessions table not only filled up, but it became corrupt. I couldn't even get in to PHP myadmin to repair the table, I had to do it manually. It won't be long before phpBB 3.0 is released and hopefully they're going to release an import/export script to allow us to migrate the current messages and forum topics.

I installed so many tweaks and mods on this version that it becomes a real pita to make additional modifications or upgrades. 3.0 has most of the realistic mods already incorporated, without any unnecessary bells and whistles.

Rich ... would it help if I set up the easylist area to just 'prune' older posts?

I was thinking about that but it's not really related. The whole database hovers around 2mb which is actually quite small. It's the sessions table that keeps getting corrupt. I'd keep the older posts alive unless you feel they're really outdated and people will never refer to them.

I just found yet another method to work around this and I'm trying to apply it now.

If they don't show hits, how do I know they are working :?

You are running the "development" build 0.7.2.4+ (plus?) from the link above?

When you say you have no hits, does that mean you haven't yet gotten any hits... or you can't SEE any? (all elements should say "0" hits at first and should also show up in the blockable items list if they are in effect).

I am running Adblock Plus 0.7.2.4.

Not sure what you mean here. All I see is zero's (0), next to the blue buttons

(all elements should say "0" hits at first

What do you mean by 'at first'? Simply that? i.e. until there is a hit, a zero will show? so zero's mean no hits?

and should also show up in the blockable items list if they are in effect).
I assume here you mean the blue buttons - they signify they are in effect

Ok, so everything is working fine for you. I wasn't sure whether you COULDN'T see the hits ... or whether you actually HAD any hits.

So you obviously haven't visited a site where the element-hiding would come into play at all.

Now back to your original question:
"since there are NO hits, should I un-subscribe EasyElement ??"
If it doesn't seem to do anything for you based on the sites that YOU visit, you can remove it ... that is entirely up to you. You obviously are not a 'major site' visitor. The element filter is more targeted to major SITES .... unlike the regular easylist which is more targeted to major ADS :)
