The following may or may not be useful information: ad blocker was working fine on the website until its most recent update a few weeks ago. Ever since that update ads have consistently been ruining the viewing experience.

I guess you are not using uBO (uBlock Origin adblocker).

Just remove the older one (adblocker) and do not enable other builtin blockers (those for vivaldi, opera ... etc) to have no conflicts.
Keep only uBO.
