Unblocked ad listings on the top and bottom of the search results for most (but far from all) search terms.

• Example page:

Code: Select all

https://www.bing.com/search?q=nrk
• Screenshot: https://images2.imgbox.com/07/42/YHESjwW5_o.png
• Test environment: Vivaldi 2.5.1525.46 64-bit for Windows, uBlock Origin 1.19.6, the only list I had turned on was EasyList.
• My personally recommended fix:

Code: Select all

bing.com#?##b_results > li:-abp-has(.b_aslcpy)

Do you see the unblocked ad with ABP or only uBo ?

Please also test

Code: Select all

bing.com#?##b_results > li :-abp-has(span.b_aslcpy)

I can confirm that it's also unblocked in ABP, and that your entry recommendation also works.

More worryingly, is however that ABP in Vivaldi consistently needs 2½-3sec before it removes the ads on my end (whereas uBO only needs a split-second), whether I'm using my or your fix suggestion.

Edit:

I've uncovered that the ads seem to be heavily regionalised, so I can imagine that it'd be hard for non-Norwegians to trigger ads when searching for "nrk".

You guys could try with

Code: Select all

https://www.bing.com/search?q=nintendo+switch
If you don't see any ads on that example site either, I've asked a bit around in my uAssets issue report (#issuecomment-497969628) to see if any of them were to see the ads on much more English-language-like search terms.

I can see 12 ads with uBo (filters updated) + uBlock Extra, and with ABP too.

But you can go turn off adult filter and search suggestions then untrust their script, but you don't get any of the options to go to videos images news et al. And these ads from bing come from random domains like jjkhjhjkhkjh.com and stuff. So its a Java thing with bing.

Can easylist not sort this out? I mean I can sort it out but when I update it will just put it back.

If you put your rules in your custom filters they won't disappear.

A test URL or a way to reproduce would help. My mind reading device is in for repair.

Yeah I hear that I can show you screenshots of the random URL's, but then you label me a spammer, and they seem to be whitelisted in easylist @@ You have whitelisted websites like bing and google (not so bad) but dear God man 9 ads + 10 results? That's like going to someones house and punch them in the face shit! Let me know if I can upload the screenshots I know you get a lot of spam I get it man.

They are whitelisted to make sure the site functions correctly.

Screenshots would be a start. I never said you were a spammer. You need to provide enough info so we can determine what's going on. So far your posts are lacking in detail.

They come from random domains but only if I allow scripts from bing.com so its not malware or adware its coming from bing. If I disallow scripts on bing I don't get ads yet can't use any of the buttons or change to video images etc.

Google does the same thing, yet I have google scripts blocked so that has to be a whitelist issue. I have a screenshot of the google ads but for some strange reason and ive tried 4 diff image upload sites, the screenshots show up as blank, which is odd cos im looking at them on my screen.

Ive tried all the filters in this thread, none block the bing ads. Ive looked in easylist and these funny domains ljjklljlkj.com are white listed. I can remove them @@ but when it updates the list its going to put them back. You do not need to whitelist the bing and google ads for the page to function. It comes from the pages script. Although google doesn't even require the script to be unblocked. Is this some kind of revenue raising by easylist? I do not accuse you I just ask.

Those serve a purpose to some extent an EasyList author would know more.

EasyList project doesn't make money. AdBlock on the other hand is a different story if you use their "Allow non-intrusive ads function".

Knowing more about your setup would help: rules#environment

I get no ads on bing / google and most other sites.

LanikSJ thanks for reply man, im sure easylist doesn't make any money its not what its for. But those random domains seem to be listed under the white list. Now I can edit them out, but when it updates its just going to put them back. I do have some other lists I will show you a screenshot. I def have ABP allow unobtrusive ads off. Its only when I allow the bing script it occurs. Thanks for your help man :) https://ibb.co/232mdxL

I don't use ABP any more. I can tell you with uBO (uBlock Origin) there's no problems. If you decide to switch to it make sure to remove ABP first.

same problem here using uBO.. full random domains.

see: https://i.imgur.com/USi3mWQ.png

in the font code.. i can see a "green" code.

if i test: bing.com##+js(aopr, ErrFuncs)

NO filter: https://i.imgur.com/ddbb856.png

with that filter: https://i.imgur.com/XR5yVbv.png

with the filter appears one ad in top and other in bottom page, but not clickable.

anyone can see that "green" code an why is green?

guys, you have in the list easylist some filters that cause the creation of random domain ads. (maybe any trick of bing)

and the problematic filter is: bing.com##a[h$=",Ads"]

when i remove easylist of uBO, the ads are displayed correctly (no random domains)

with easylist OFF and the filter: bing.com##a[h$=",Ads"] the ads with random domains appears

when I hover over the link, you can see the URL below:

Code: Select all

I am using the excellent ublock Origin adblocker it is installed in Brave Version 1.36.109 Chromium: 99.0.4844.51 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Brave is installed on macOS Monterey 12.2.1

In the past week I have been getting ads on the top and bottom of my search results when I search for “Mobile Phones” or “Mobile Phone Plans” and other search terms have ads at the top and bottom of my search results.

These ads are clearly tagged as ads and are placed there by Bing.

I do NOT ever wish to see these ads polluting my search results even if they are clearly tagged as ads.

I adjusted the Brave Shields for Trackers & Ad Blocking to Aggressive which made no difference.

I have also tried using the adblockers Adguard and Ghostery.

I tried using a variety of filter lists such as Easy List, Adguard and quite a variety of others. None of them have been able to block those Bing ads at the top and bottom of my search results.

I have also thoroughly searched the Easy List forums here and tried all the suggestions posted, but nothing has worked.

I have also very thoroughly uninstalled Brave and very carefully removed all traces of Brave from my mac.

I then downloaded Brave again and performed a fresh install of Brave and made absolutely ZERO changes to its default configuration and NO Extensions were installed.
I searched again on Bing and those Bing ads appeared again.

The same thing happens when I perform searches on Bing with Safari and Firefox.

Somehow Bing has found new ways of inserting those search result ads which now evade the currently available adblockers.

Can anybody please help me find a way to block those ads at top and bottom of my search results.
