A (supposed?) anti-virus program called "Advanced Mac Cleaner" keeps re-appearing on my wife's side of our Mac despite all my efforts to remove it. How can I permanently remove it? I am an end user with a relatively low level of computer literacy; so any explanation will have to take that into account when instructing me. So far, my effort has consisted of locating the unwanted app in Finder, taking it to the Trash; then emptying the trash. The app disappears only to re-appear the next time my wife logs in and her desktop appears.
Thanks
Advanced Mac Cleaner
@Lanik The link you posted does not instil me a great deal of confidence.
if the user is not vigilant (this is the case for all normal users) and follow what indicated in this page he will end up with more problem by installing other unwanted programs (from affiliate links).
@exasperated Your computer has been infected with a "fake utility" (adware / Malware).
follow the indicated on this post https://discussions.apple.com/message/28989569#28989569
or better, use Malwarebytes for Mac (free version) which will detect and remove "Advanced Mac Cleaner".
If still unsolved seek assistance on specialized forums:
