Tips for new Internet users?

I see a lot of people coming to the internet for the first time. Some people who haven't even used computers before. While its great that the internet population grows as it does so do online threats like scamming, spamming, malvertising and basically everything else we are familiar with.
People new to the internet should know about these and ways to protect themselves. I wanted to ask about what tips you think should new users to the internet know, to protect themselves and other general tips about using the internet.
PS: I find it great that our community is very welcoming to new users and helping them out
