I've noticed that ABP filter subscriptions are pretty resource-hungry. For example, even freshly launching a blank page in Firefox will give me cca. 60MB additional use of RAM with ABP+EasyList enabled (and all other add-ons disabled). Not to mention opening more tabs and my MEM usage will quickly be 400+ MB. I usually get 700-800MB pretty soon (sometimes in less than 30 mins, sometimes within an hour).
I was wondering if anything could be done about it?
Firefox 16.0.2, OS X 10.8.2 here.
memory usage
That most likely because we have tons of filters that are obsolete. We do not have a solution for removing such filters yet but probably in near future.
I see... I really hope you will manage to solve it soon...
Things are getting done, slowly but surely. See the ABP crawler project here: https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11887
