BEEFREE and AOL (...its localizations)

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, i finally tested this last version of beefree on almost all localizations of AOL (not only its .com), just to find out that my filters don't work on all their domains as i was expecting... there is at least one exception: aol.de it has something of different i'll have to fix it, eventually

Yet, beefree works on many AOL domains!!!!!!!!!!!! And, actually, it works there even better than what i could expect

If you look a the top and bottom of those pages, you can see some unblocked sponsored links from GOOGLE It's funny, because, with beefree you could click on them without being tracked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that's why i used hp as keyword to search, because you always find some ads while looking for them ). Yeah!!! My filter against google, works pretty well (for now )

Well, you could try to block (hide ) their sponsored links using easylist too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They're already blocked on this search page from aol.de suche.aol.de and aol international!!!! so you could add the others localizations of AOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, who knows why they've made a different structure for AOL.DE!!! maybe they did it for fun or to block beefree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! «ich habe keine idee mehr »

Ok call me stupid if you want, but I don't get what this means. Is this about tracking or about ads displaying? If it's tracking then is the Easyprivacy used to see how that stacks up? Because Easylist isn't about blocking tracking at all. Sometimes it does just because it blocks an ad that also tracks. At least this is my understanding of how Easylist and Easyprivacy is suppose to work. Am I correct?

No, you haven't got what i was trying to say!!!!!!!!
BeeFree and AdBlock Plus are doing two very different things, as you said!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, that's why they complete each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's why they're great and you can (should!!!!! ) have them together!!!!!!!!

Well, what i wanted to point out, is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On plenty of AOL versions, BeeFree is working but AdBlockPlus isn't working because it lacks of filters!!!!!!!!!!!
So, as consequence you've ads displayed!!!!!!!!!!
Here is where BeeFree comes in!!!!!!!!!! Even if the ads are displayed (and you could block them, creating/adding new filters for easyList ) BeeFree is going to replace links taken from the ads themselves
Yeah, beefree won't remove the ads (it's the job of AdBlock and its lists!!!!!!!!!) but even if adverts are displayed, clicking on them won't result in AdSense knowing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While i was testing beefree, i also kept a record of which AOL's websites are lacking of filters for AdBlock!!!!!!!!!!

What beefree is doing, is of course something of good, because as we all know Google AdSense isn't using normal banners to display advertisements!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Google is using plain-text links!!!!!!!!
Those links cannot be removed with AdBlock, because they aren't neither scripts nor images!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can only use AdBlock to hide them!!!!!!!!!!!
So, you know which AOL websites need filters!!!! to hide their sponsored links sections!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's because i wrote them in my list!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, against sponsored links from google, beefree offers a pro-active protection!!!!!!!!!!! Because even if it doesn't hide them, it is going to remove all those Google's systems made to track you if you accidentally click on them!!!!!!!

Don't you see a paragraph named "Sponsede Koblinger"(sponsored links)?!!!!!!!! It exists because EasyList lacks of filters!!!!!!!!!!! (so, you could add them!!!!!!!!!!!! )
However, BeeFREE is replacing those links inside that promotional paragraph!!!!!! So, it's indeed working against ads too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, you could add new filters to hide all those sponsored links off AOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For example, for aolnorge, you could add:

You could do the same for all web localizations of AOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They've got a plenty of websites and easylisy has filters only for a few of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, you could add filters for all those AOL websites listed with a red NO in my list!!!!!!!!!!!
I will do the same for beefree!!!!!!!!!!! I'm lucky, because beefree doesn't work only on aol.de!!!!!!!!!!!! I've no ideas, but they made their link-tracking system a little different there!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why they did it!!!! they just did the same work twice for apparently no reason!!!!!!!!!! though i would like to know why they did it
The funny point, is that beefree doesn't work on suche.aol.de but it could work on aol.de For example, the Austrian version of AOL is http://aol.at !!!!!!!!!!! and, indeed, it's just a redirect to http://at.aol.de/ !!!!!!!!! This is funny, because, if you type something in their search-box there and you click enter/search you'll load this page http://atsuche.aol.de/aol/search?invoca ... =countryAT !!!!!!!!!! and, guess what!!!!! it's the same aol.de domain, but beefree works on «atsuche.aol.de»!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

However AOL is a multinational company based in the USA They made a lot of online services available worldwide ... even if AOL is the acronym of America Off Line!!!!!!!!!!! yeah AOL sucks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so, it deserves to have all the possible filters available in the main list!!!!!!!!!!!! it would be nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that people using AOL's services (including instant messengers like AIM or ICQ) are plenty!!!!!! enough to justify the filters in the main list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also noticed that i had the banners on AOL.de blocked from EasyList Germany, and not from the main EasyList i didn't noticed that before
Anyway, there aren't enough supplemental subscriptions to include all languages!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe, you could think to make an exception for AOL or else, we could just forget it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...and leave the banners alone

Well, i don't know if everything is blocked there
When i surf on AOL i see no adverts, but i never used to use all their web sites sections They've got plenty of sections and sub-websites etc... I also logged myself in, using aolmail and there is nothing at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, I've my filters too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i don't know if that's because of EasyList!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These filters were my most active adblocking rules, they were triggered almost everywhere:

AOL is very big and fat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is for sure something left unblocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!
though I think that the search engine of AOL and AOL mail are clear
