Branch.io is not an advertiser and is used by companies to measure metrics related to users' interactions with their website and mobile app. The currently filtering rule is preventing many companies from creating new user experiences for their users including adding QR codes to their site that the user can scan to either download or open the company's mobile app and be routed to the correct in-app location.

The Ad blocker filtering is also blocking API calls that the website is trying to make to perform previously mentioned QR code use cases. The URL in this case that is being blocked is

which is not at all used for tracking as it will just generate and return a QR code for the site to use.

Blocking for this API was observed using Google Chrome with uBlock origin.

Correct, it's not in the list because of not being an advertiser. It's in the list because we block trackers. And branch.io is a tracker.
