https://cczmaguswizka2bagbahvuwq6lribe.pearlspong.com
https://cczmagucykbjqgdqkb5efuxs5.pearlspong.com

These are getting through on twitch.

adding https://cczmagu* to filter stops them.

the past ~3 days my adblock doesn't seem to work on www.twitch.tv/ anymore (I am using google chrome), every channel i view i get an ad playing in the video screen. I have reinstalled it and made sure the acceptable ad box is unchecked and other settings that may allow some ads but nothing has worked.

Submit an adblock plus issue report https://adblockplus.org/en/getting_star ... -negatives

also try to add this filter:

Code: Select all

/\/[a-z0-9_-]{15,}\.[a-z0-9-]+\.[a-z]{2,}\/.*?\w{40,}/$domain=twitch.tv

Its weird, the ads only seem to play if you're using the older flash player, the new HTML5 player hasnt had any ads. Pretty soon the flash player will be completely gone replaced by the HTML5 player.

Dunno. According to what I've read, the ads are part of the video stream, just like on TV. The claim is that this kind of ad can't be blocked. I'm hopeful and fairly confident that the "army of open-source contributors" (as one reporter called the EasyList community) will come up with something. :)

This just recently started happening a week or two ago, the adds getting threw are "Amazon prime adds", and "Amazon coin adds". Anyone find a work around for them yet?

@Rhana, as you posted an article about twitch, if they included the video ads in the stream it's nothing to do

Unfortunately can not be blocked, without blocking at the same time the video streaming :-/

Twitch API is using a call that includes a ADBLOCK variable as true.

Example

Code: Select all

https://api.twitch.tv/api/channels/tsm_dyrus/access_token?adblock=true&need_https=true&platform=web&player_type=site
Subscribers to a channel don't get ads initiated by a streamer between a game. Do they watch the same stream as the regular viewers that didn't subscribe?

In the last month or two, TwitchTV has added another form of user tracking, similar to spade.twitch.tv which is already blocked by the EasyPrivacy list.

You will see lots of calls to this domain if you use TwitchTV at all and are paying attention in dev tools / uBlock logger.
Calls to this domain can either be POST requests that send a base64 encoded request that looks similar to this (I removed any identifying details and re-encoded the strings)

(13k character base64 POST request that occurs when loading twitch.tv/directory/, includes lots of user info, and site debugging stuff)

or this

(every minute you watch a stream, it sends an update telling them you just watched for a minute, along with lots of other data related to that minute.)

As well as this,

Code: Select all

trowel.twitch.tv/?data=[base64string]
However I am not sure what causes this format difference. Could be exact copies of previous requests are done this way, but I didn't bother spending much more time after my above findings. Just blocked it, and it doesn't cause any problems with watching streams or using twitch just as I did before.

Making this post because it feels way too invasive in my opinion, and not something most would willingly want to give away if they care about their privacy at all. Personally, I don't trust many Twitch staff, and we have no access who has access to all the information they are receiving here. It would be very easy to track users, and also suspected botters (hopefully this is why they are sucking up all of this information, but we will likely never know).

just wanted to add that the ads dont show up if you use livestreamer to stream directly to a media player (eliminating the need to open the twitch-website at all) so clearly the ads are not embedded in the stream itself and should therefore still be blockable (somehow :) )
