Startpage has never used ad banners before as far as I'm aware and the ad banner will obviously be removed after the livestream on September 14th. Adding a filter that will only be of minimal use for 12 days and then probably never be needed again seems a bit overkill.

The id for that element is #promo_cnt_id
: sounds like an ad.
startpage.com##.banner-container
gets rid of it.

So it's worth to consider avoiding filters that would only apply to that one exact banner. But there's plenty of material there for useful generic filter(s)...

That removes the "Add to Chrome" and "Set as Homepage" buttons for me. Using
doesn't remove those extra elements.

We are served different versions of the page? Mine: http://imgur.com/a/E89fu. "Add to Chrome"/"Set as Home" are under
#settings
on my side.

Yeah, they must be serving different versions of the page, because when I first reported this I got the same results as Lanik, and now I'm getting same results as gorhill.

Very odd this is what I'm seeing:

I'm thinking they're flipping back and forth between 2 versions.
