Scott Kalitta killed in NHRA qualifying incident

Legendary Drag Racer, Scott Kalitta, was killed today in a NHRA qualifying incident.

This without a doubt is the absolute worst motorsports accident I have ever seen ... just simply horrifying. The first 2 shots are amateur shots .. the 3rd is the broadcast shot that shows the incredible impact at the end of the strip:

This is a shot of Scott's Funny Car at the moment of the explosion. Scott was estimated at doing about 300 miles per hour (482 kph) when it initially exploded. I have to think that the damage to Scott was already done even before the horrific crash.
