Our clients are video directors, producers, editors, composers etc, and use our video embeds in their portfolios. Whilst the content of the videos are often tv commercials (as well as short films, music videos etc), those adverts are the content that visitors to the sites are coming to see.

is used to allow the site developer to control the embed from the parent frame; play, pause, skip videos etc. When it is blocked, depending on the implementation, it prevents out clients' portfolio from being viewed.

I've not been able to work out which rule is blocking that script from loading.

You should go into your adblocker's logger and see what filters are triggered (and from what list). I'm not able to reproduce the issue.
