popup-builder.com

Post by borisn70 »

Hello,
My name is Boris and I am a developer of Popup Builder plugin (https://popup-builder.com).
Popup Builder plugin focused on providing the easiest means for users to create various types of popups, including Contact Forms, Subscription Forms, Age Restriction and so on.
Our popups don’t have any connections with the commercial advertisers like AdWords, AdRoll etc.
Recently I have found our folder popup-builder- inside the blocking list which prevents the script to be included on the page.
I am very curious why we have been added to the blockers list as our solution doesn’t have direct integration or anything else with spammy popups.
P.S. I have also made an opensource plugin project for WordPress users so they can use the plugin.

Please help me to understand what causes this issue and how can we be excluded from the list.

Thanks.

The blocking filter is
/popup-builder-

which blocks your folder, for example:
https://popup-builder.com/wp-content/plugins/popup-builder-platinum/

You should also provide a real site (not a demo one) using your plugin

Thank you for considering our case.
Actually, we don't track users' websites but since many customers of ours contacted us recently regarding this issue, here are some websites (can provide more, if so is needed) that are using our plugin:
1) https://www.thisdogslife.co/
2) http://www.mriburn.com/
3) http://schraderrealty.net/
4) https://littleborroweddress.com.au/

And the screenshots https://imgur.com/a/BaqlVxe

Depending on the plugin package we separate it by folder name (popup-builder-silver, popup-builder-gold, popup-builder-platinum)
You can find the opensource version of the plugin here https://wordpress.org/plugins/popup-builder/

The filter

Code: Select all

/popup-builder-
blocks all the JS and CSS codes and as a result, the popup doesn't work :(

Here are the popup types(screenshot attached) available via our plugin. And as you can see there is no mention or any indications connected to advertisements or any spammy content.

This plugin is used to display advertising pop-ins.
•► Read RULES / Use forum Search
••► Don't post clickable links
•••►Upload screenshots at imgbb.com

Hey smed79, maybe some of the users used it for showing an advertisement in a spammy way, but the role of the plugin and our philosophy is not to junk the Internet. So please consider adding the spammy website to a list but not general popup-builder- itself as many users are using it in a correct way as I have shown in screenshots and websites.

Our team really hope we can solve this issue as many users are contacting us with an adblock issue which wrongly blocks the popup.

Looking forward to hearing from you, as this is very urgent and important for us and our users as well.

Thank you for understanding and cooperation.

Sorry for writing you again @smed79 I thought maybe you haven't received my previous message.
Here are some points which are not fair for us.
On the WordPress, there are 100 of popup building plugins which may potentially be advertisers, so in this case, should all the popups be blocked?
What if the user is using our popup plugin for showing an age-restriction popup for his/her e-commerce website which is selling e-cigarettes?
How can they increase their social authority without social sharing buttons inside the popup?
Why should website owners not be able to show video popups via our plugin?
How can they increase their sales and mailing list without subscription popups?

There are many other scenarios available with the usage of our popup-builder plugin and this was the main idea of mine and my friends while building this plugin.
I totally agree that some guys may show advertisements inside the popup, but this is not a subject for blocking all other good experiences which were built via our plugin. I am totally sure that during these 2 years of being on the market, there are few people using the plugin for showing only advertisements. So why not just add a filter to block the advertisement content or the website with a relative path to our plugin?

I am sorry for writing to you so much, but when there are hundreds of users which are complaining about this issue every minute it makes us really crazy and powerless to not be able to help those people.

We are ready to provide more evidence and examples to make every author confident that we have not made this plugin just for advertisement and we have many other good ideas which can make User Experience better but this blocker is very serious for us to overcome and we cross our fingers to find a better solution for this case,

Code: Select all

/popup-builder-$~image,~stylesheet

You are right but not all people are using popups for advertisements there are many other use cases of the popups. Our popup builder tool is not designed for advertisements but for marketing purposes like countdowns, coupon codes, videos and etc.
Our team hopes that you can add this exception inside the list so legit people can use the software.

Thank you in advance!
