netlify.com

Post by u5545 » Sun Feb 04, 2018 5:01 pm

Code: Select all

! Mining
$websocket,xmlhttprequest,domain=[...]|netlify.com
Someone has blocked the whole domain without checking what he actually blocked. Netlify https://www.netlify.com is a platform for deploying static sites. You can't block it just because you find some mining stuff on a website created with netlify. It's like blocking blogspot.com because you find mining script on http://stephenvandulken.blogspot.com. I hope you realize how big of a mistake you've made.

The page works just fine. Please be specific as to what isn't working. And what filter list(s) / AdBlocker / Browser you're using. I was able to pull the page up. Aside for GA stuff everything loaded fine.

And tone down your rhetoric if you want to get some help around here: rules#about

OK. So I'm using uBlock Origin and the rule is on EasyPrivacy filter. The page works fine until you try to log in:

Also you can't make any AJAX request on netlify page, because they all get blocked.
I've created a test page, so you can see the problem. Link: https://ajax-test.netlify.com

Thank you for that screenshot I got what I needed there. I was able to sign up with my GitHub.com account and login.

I have about the same setup you do just not on Windows. I have way more lists enabled then EasyList + EasyPrivacy.

uBO console don't show anything being blocked Chrome shows analytics.min.js being blocked which falls under the purpose of EasyPrivacy.

Your test page works perfectly all xhr requests are allowed on my setup nothing in the Chrome or uBO console.

Have you updated all the filters already? Any other filter lists?

lanik, you can not reproduce because your EasyPrivacy list does not include

Code: Select all

$websocket,xmlhttprequest,domain=[...]|netlify.com
That filter has been added yesterday: https://github.com/easylist/easylist/co ... 464757219a
If you manually update your EasyPrivacy list you will be able to reproduce.

Now I just looked stupid.

I updated the list yesterday but not this morning. Ignore everything above since I see the problem now.

I work for netlify.com. We are a web hosting company with hundreds of thousands of users. Any new site automatically receives a subdomain from *.netlify.com with assets served from their subdomain. It appears that you have blocked our entire network, which affects all of our users since it prevents their sites from being accessible, and it also prevents people from going to our admin panel for their site.

I was wondering how we can get netlify.com removed from your list? While I can understand blocking a site which lives on a subdomain, your block seems a bit overly broad since it blocks all of the users that host with Netlify.

That doesnt begin to fix anything. e.g. ajax-test.netlify.com should not be mentioned, as that was a test site created solely to prove to you that the problem exists.

I have raised #898 as this will be primarily breaking static sites typically hosted on GitHub, GitLab & BitBucket.

Given coin miners are using your site to host there scripts, Unless this changes, I'm in no rush to remove this.
