google.com

I see more and more ads on google maps, see two screenshots under.

Screenshot one, I search bricolage supermarket and Google force me to see sponsored shop and it's localisation!

Screenshot two, with search for city for curiosity I found disguised ads for hotels (third party) but I don't search for hotels!

Tested with some browsers, especially FF and Chrome, tested with ABP and after with UBO, same problems.

Be warning Google use two versions of google maps, these ads come from google search integrated map (without street view for example) and it's URL begin like:

Code: Select all

https://www.google.com/search?tbm
These stupid version of google maps integrated in google search engine appear often I search shops or other places in Google search and ads appear.

Official google maps begin like:

Code: Select all

https://www.google.fr/maps/search/
or

Code: Select all

https://www.google.com/maps
or other countries extensions.

If I go to directly to google maps and, after, I search shops or other places INSIDE google maps, no ads appears:

For the 1st screenshot, provide example link.

For the 2nd screenshot, i think what you are referring to it is one feature of the site and should not be blocked.

Edit: I update the title of the topic.

For 1st screenshot example link use Google search and type "Magasin Bricolage Caen" and click on map in Google search result.
I make a tutorial for this search way go to ads in fake google maps inside google search:

You use directly Google maps and search inside google maps, If you use this way, no ads appear because you are on google maps. I made a tutorial on screenshot for search way with ads on precedent comment. Ad appear if I logged to my google account and I not logged to google accounts (ex: private sessions), ad not appear if I logged on another google account, tested with two another google account, weird. :(

I found a solution, block mini map on google search results to force to use "map" tab to go directly on official google maps:

UBO filter

Code: Select all

www.google.com##.vk_c.AEprdc
ABP Filter

Code: Select all

google.com##.AEprdc.vk_c
Google search with filters:

Google search without filters:

New way tu use Google search and maps with filter who block mini map, no ads ("map" tap go directly on google maps):

No, i give you an example url here #p145063
logged or not i still not see any ads... maybe @intense can reproduce.

ABP Filter
FYI, ##.ads1.ads2.ads3 or ##.ads2.ads1.ads3 or ##.ads3.ads2.ads1 do the same thing and work in ABP and uBo.

Sorry I dont' see first time your url, so now I tested by copy/paste your url, I see ad, like my first screenshot, weird. Same with

Code: Select all

##.ads1.ads2.ads3
filter. :/

My filters can bypass this google search maps and it's weird unblocked ads (in my side, despite clean sessions and multiples tests).

Thanks you for your work, help and filters. :)

I think Google possible use specifics url with differents machine configurations (browser, computer, smartphone, logged account, cookies...) to bypass filters, same as YouTube homepage or Google search on mobile version (blocked only on FF mobile with UBO or Adblock Browser) so I changed my default search engine on mobile for all browsers. Very hard work to block ads on Google. Good luck.

Sponsored ads in top of all search or on top right result if I search products, reproduced on Chrome with ABP only.

New ads, a comparator with external sites (with Google's
partners), if I click on hotel on Google Maps.

With explanation who confirm it's Google's partner external sites.

Google on my phone still shows ads on my phone (Samsung A3 2017) with Firefox mobile:

https://i.imgur.com/xgecCk4l.png

You can get these to show on Google by changing user account to:

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (Android 8.0.0; Mobile; rv:68.0) Gecko/68.0 Firefox/68.0
And setting screen size to 360x640.

These codes seem to block them just fine:

Code: Select all

www.google.com##^.ZINbbc.xpd.O9g5cc.uUPGi:has(.rtDDKc.VqFMTc.NceN9e)
www.google.es##^.ZINbbc.xpd.O9g5cc.uUPGi:has(.rtDDKc.VqFMTc.NceN9e)
