(www.independent.co.uk) is one of the worst sites for aggressively blocking adblockers. It forces you to turn them off by blacking out the page and displaying a large anti-adblocker message. If you want the crossword, you have to sit through a video. It used to be possible to avoid the video by turning the adblocker on as soon as it started playing, but they've got wise to this. I'm using Adblock Plus.
It there's a way round this I'd be grateful to hear it, but if it involves scripts I'd appreciate a simple explanation!
Once again many thanks. All clear now, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I'll give some consideration to switching adblockers, but in the meantime I will mail the Independent and tell them that I shall no longer visit their pages until the restriction is removed. Obviously a single mail from a nobody like me is unlikely to make a scrap of difference, but if enough people did the same perhaps it would have some effect.
