uBo:
Code: Select all

ABP:
Code: Select all
quora.com#?#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/ad by/i)

or (better) for uBo
quora.com##[id*=wrapper]:has-text(/ad\s{1,}by /i)
Are you using ABP ?

Works only on ubo on firefox, not working on ubo in opera.
I sur abp or ubo, depends of site if ubo are better or abp are better.

Is the builtin blocker enabled in opera ?

I tried with and without built in blocker, no effect, no possibility to create personnal list. I hate opera, too difficult to block ads.

use chrome (however I can see the ads only in firefox)
use the second filter for opera
(or be sure when copy the filter there are 2 spaces between ad
and by
)

I confirm opera is worst browser I ever seen, but in chrome I had more difficult to block ads than Firefox, a reason to switch between chrome to opera but I regret now my choice. This is also a reason for opera isn't a first borwser used in the world.

or - as I said - use the second filter (added to uBo)
Code: Select all
quora.com##[id*=wrapper]:has-text(/ad\s{1,}by /i)

I used this second filter but I use your two filters in same time, it's works.
OPERA
There are another hidden ads "promoted by" I try use this filter for ubo on opera (for test)
Code: Select all
quora.com#?#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/promoted by/i)
Problem, it hide this ad but with all answers under questions.
PS: There are more viscious disguised ads with only "By", to make blocking filters more difficult to create

I see this ads in Opera and Firefox. Same with ABP and after UBO activated.

Your UBO filter works but no forget to add intense's filter
Code: Select all
quora.com#?#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/ad by/i)

Quora has changed his strategy to annoy adblock users, I don't see any answers, blocked by this filters but I see An ad:
Code: Select all
https://www.quora.com/Why-did-Pinterest-change-to-force-users-to-log-in-to-use-the-service-How-do-I-bypass-this
Screenshot (Tested on chrome, firefos and opera, with ubo and next with adblock plus)
https://image.ibb.co/estDCT/QUORA_SUCKS.png
I think quora team see this forum, I hate to being forced to see his ads, very bad strategy and I love the strategy of DuckDuckGo serarh engine, for example, with a preference choice to see or not see his ads and permit to give a don (if you would).

@GamOfCatAndOfMouse This is a rare occurence where
@intense 's filter is hiding the answers. Doesn't happen on any pages I browsed with answers.
adding
Code: Select all
quora.com#@#[id*=wrapper]:has-text(/ad\s{1,}by /i)
shows the answers again.

@-Mark- Thanks you very much (and Intense, other helpful members and community) for your help.
Your filters not working with "has test" but working with: "-abp- contains":
Code: Select all
quora.com#@#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/ad{1,} by /i)
quora.com#@#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/promoted{1,} by /i)
I can get rid, for this moment, with also
@Intense filters, against "Ad by" and "Promoted by" ads, but I don't get rid for ads with only "By" xyz
I tested this diy filter but all ads reaparred:
Code: Select all
quora.com#@#[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/by /i)

EDIT: All ads reaparred a few time after reloading, all filters not working.

That's an exception filter, use quora.com##[id*=wrapper]:-abp-contains(/by /i)

Quora has started showing text based ads. Between the title and the first answer, there is an ad by DuckDuckgo.
Sample link:
Code: Select all
https://www.quora.com/Im-trying-to-burn-in-a-video-file-with-DVB-subtitles-to-an-MP4-video-file-using-FFmpeg-but-scaling-subtitles-to-the-videos-resolution-doesnt-work-Why
Those ads seem to use randomized element names so normal hide element by name might not work. How to block it on all subpages of Quora?
