Well...I created the new clean profile as well as maintained the original profile. I disabled ABP on the original profile and used only Ubo and UB extra on both profiles...Although I'm sure I previously disabled ABP in my earlier testing, this time, everything is working the way it's supposed to. I have now deleted ABP and the test profile from my system and have been slowly adding in new filters as needed. So far so good...Thanks to everyone for their help on this frustrating problem. Again, many thanks! Glad to be surfing the web without poorly placed ads blocking my views! :)

just when I think I have this site working the programmers for it sneak something else in

every other week adblockplus stops working and ads start showing up again

they're doing something funky because if I right click / inspect while the page is loading I can see the html changing and things appearing / disappearing

they've got divs with

Code: Select all

id = intromercial
class=listing-ad-wrapper
class=skin-takeover-container.ad-dfp
class=__adblockplus__overlay
^ now those last two HAVE to be the cause of all the nonsense

every couple of weeks I edit my filters and it works for awhile and then BAM more ads
I fricking hate that site

Up until now I was able to overcome the audio (from floating video window) by disabling ABP, allowing the page to load, and then clicking the option that disables auto playback of the video. Once ABP was turned back on there would be no window, thanks to EasyList and no audio thanks to switching off the auto play.

Today they removed the ability to turn off auto playback. So no matter what I do, I hear that crap in the background.

I'm open to suggestions on this.

Provide an example page, what adblocker / lists are you using and what custom filters for that page.

http://www.tvguide.com/listings (using EasyPrivacy + EasyList)

I did manage to kill the floating video AND the audio from it by adding:

Ad Blocking Rule:

Code: Select all

||tvguide-vh.akamaihd.net/
Element Hiding Rule:

Code: Select all

tvguide.com##.article-asset-video-container.article-asset-video-popover-with-up-next.article-asset-video-popover-container
Unfortunately, the "Search Listings" box is again broken. (With or without the above filters enabled.)

I see that the previous fix for that (mentioned on the first page of this thread):
@@||securepubads.g.doubleclick.net/gpt/pubads_impl_$domain=tvguide.com no longer shows any hits.

Edit: Got it. Use the 3 above filters. The first two to kill the video ads, and the last to allow the Search Listings box to work.

But also add:

Code: Select all

@@||c.evidon.com/geo/country.js$domain=tvguide.com

I right-clicked the element and tried to delete it, but it only made picture disappear and it still blasts the sound at me. :-?

So yesterday (03/25/20) tvguide.com decided to mess with their website again, the video block filters still work, but the one that blocks the blaring sound from that hidden video now doesn't work & tvguide.com is showing a popup upon arrival at the site

Code: Select all

https://www.tvguide.com/listings/
demanding that I turn off AdBlock to even see the website now... (gawd I HATE that website!)

Anyways, (if you guys are still active making filters?) could someone please, please make a new filter to block that obnoxious sound coming from the blocked video, pretty please? :-)

Code: Select all

||tvguide-vh.akamaihd.net/
tvguide.com##.article-asset-video-container
These filters don't work to block the audio anymore. :cry:

for anti adblocking:

uBO => update uBO annoyances list
ABP => add:

Code: Select all

||importedinsect.com^$third-party
for video:

Code: Select all

||tvgvideo.cbsistatic.com^$xhr,domain=tvguide.com
tvguide.com##.hub-video-player-container
tvguide.com##.article-asset-video-popover-container

Code: Select all

||tvgvideo.cbsistatic.com^$xhr,domain=tvguide.com
okay this filter gave me this error The following filter: ||tvgvideo.cbsistatic.com^$xhr,domain=tvguide.com has an error: Unknown filter option

I added the other 3, audio still blarring... :(

replace xhr with xmlhttprequest

or simply replace your adblocker with uBO (uBlock Origin)
