Major ad problem

Post by kotosan »

Ok, so I've had this problem for more than a week now, and to put it simply, my ad blocker has just
"stopped" working. What I mean by "stopped" is as follows:
- Random black rectangles (huge) at the bottom of the screen, (usually left corner, middle and right corner)
- Left side completely covered in a ad (not all sites)
- And lastly, however, the most annoying! ALL webpages I click on instantly transfer me to a pop-up website that I have to close (usually twice)

So, of course i have taken some action towards fixing this issue:
- Uninstalling Ad blocker
- Googling the problem (obviously my first choice)
- Updating and configuring Ad blocker
- Using the report button in order to find a solution

Unfortunately all in vein. So if anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated, as it is quite a nuisance to my daily life and work.

Thank you,
Fellow Ad block user

it sounds like malware

scan your system for malware / adware
use malwarebytes antimalware (free version) ==> https://www.malwarebytes.org/
and adwcleaner http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

I tried both of them, thank you, however, it did not fix any of my problems :(

Still nothing, it didn't even find a single threat. Do you think re-installing chrome could fix the issue?

If you get popups, ads whatever site you visit, it should be adware / malware.
What extensions are installed in your chrome ?

You could reset chrome, reinstall adblocker (be sure it's the real adblocker, for example: adblock plus from: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... fddb?hl=en )

I disabled everything else I had, and I also just tried the reset thing, didn't help. I have seen some people have the same problem lately, however, no one seems to know the solution. You have been a great support though, thank you
