Though I don't know if adblock does anything against popups I sure hope it can be stopped.

Piratebay's popups is hard to defeat, no complete method to stop it without causing false positives.

i don't know if this helps any....but on the new piratebay domain they got a popup, chrome blocks one, then another pops up
there is reference to these in the header portion of the html source of the page..

you could use some cookie manager (for chrome "edit this cookie" extension) and change the expired date for tpbpop cookie
