I was when trying to download uTorrent of all things clicked the wrong button, didn't realize that and ended up infecting my PC, have never looked back from an adblocker since.

Someone in my family was about to fall over for the you have won an iPhone/S9 etc. thing. They were about to handover their cash when they asked me which phone they should use; would've ended up paying monthly subscriptions for nothing.

One time I also ordered from the adverts you see on TV. It was a chopper where you put things and punch it and they would supposedly come out finely chopped. Broke in two days while trying to cut an onion. Never again.

Have you ever been scammed like this by an advertisement online or otherwise?

Not me, but some members of my family . The most part of time via SMS or fraudulent calls (they send an sms or call a surtaxed number hoping they will win a car 🚘 or smartphone 📱).

When I explain to them the fraud, I feel like I do not speak their language when i see them falls in the trap for a 2nd and 3rd time

despite that I do not use it, Image utorrent 2.0.4 is the best old version that i still trust.

Tixati is closed source. qBittorrent or Deluge are a good alternative open source BitTorrent clients.

@smed79 if you didn't use all those clients, ...well you cannot have a good opinion. I used all of them, tixati is the best.

Never, because such ads are way too good to be true.
