Who owns Adblock (Chrome)?

There isn't a lot of clarity on who owns the Adblock application which also recently acquired ublock.org. Michael Gundlach sold the site sometime back but there was not much clarity on who it was sold to.

Development seems to have mostly died in recent times with no new features being added and the addition of "acceptable ads" has also made it more confusing as to whether Eyeo (ABP) is the owner or not/who the revenue is going to.

If you look at the company behind the extension "BetaFish" it was registered by Gabriel Cubbage who quit sometime back. The current CEO is Matthew Maier in California (the company is registered in Texas).

The purchase of ublock.org wasn't announced by Adblock as well.

I think there should be more transparency regarding the extension as such.

Plenty of companies do this (register their company in TX) then run it from another state where tax laws aren't that friendly.

Look up first 20 Fortune 100 / 500 companies I bet you quite a few of them and their headquarters don't match their "registration". Banks love to do this also in US.

In this day and age a company can be located anywhere as long as majority of their business is done online.

@smed79 I just refer to them as Adblock and ABP otherwise it gets very confusing :[

@Lanik You're right about that. Most are registered are Delaware I was just pointing it out (Texas is a weird choice but they probably did it because they already had a company there.)

Guess I was wrong about Betafish not being that open. Thanks for the links.
