I was thinking about that but it's not really related. The whole database hovers around 2mb which is actually quite small. It's the sessions table that keeps getting corrupt. I'd keep the older posts alive unless you feel they're really outdated and people will never refer to them. I just found yet ...

I ran a database maintenance recently to try to clear up the error we've been getting with the sessions table filling up. When you run a maintenance it will restore posts that never made it to the board because of invalid characters. This usually results in multiple posts though, not missing posts. ...

Google recommends upgrading to the new, safer Firefox 2.0

Maybe I've missed something that was new a while ago, but did anyone notice that Google now has a banner (new to me today) that says Google recommends upgrading to the new, safer Firefox 2.0 ? It only appears if you are using IE. This aughtta keep Rick busy(er)! -Rich http://www.richsterling.com/ima...

Thanx for taking care of this post, Rich. I noticed a while ago that certain "copied" characters do not like being pasted here. I've had problems with <list> formats and certain quotation marks and other special characters myself ... trying to find out which one was doing it was the b1tch...

Looks like it could have been whichever apostrophe was used in "ad's" or your "Soapbox" BBCode. Anyhow, looks like your post made it successfully (about 5 times now, lol, guess I need to go fix that!) Have a good day! And.. btw, you mentioned my name in your post "Rich Sterl...

The board usually doesn't respond well to copied and pasted text. What usually hangs when I do that are the special characters like degree sign, copyright sign, fractions, etc.

I think I can recover your post... I'll go try after this post.

Open Firefox faster

Speed up the opening of FF a bit by adding prefetch. Edit your command line as follows:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1

I'll see if I can get them to replace that IE announcement on the portal. If not, I'll put them somewhere on the portal statically.

Rick-

Why don't we move these links to a more easily accessible area of the forum? I refer to these often in my PC cleanups. I have to search for them each time. It'd be nice if I could go right to my home page or here in the forum and bingo.. instant install.

I swear.. that sucker was present last night... or else where would I come up with an "ad" if I didn't see it with my own eyes??? I actually did a screen capture but didn't feel like resizing it to fit the forum so I nuked it. Oh well, no ad today! (yes, I am sure I wasn't using IE!) After...

The Noia theme is becoming extremely popular and I do find it somewhat attractive.

Making Firefox more "appealing"

Hi Folks, As most of our readers may have gathered, I WAS not a Firefox fan. (ok kill me) My main reason was when I designed a web page, I had to re-design it for FF clients An other reason was the fact that it didn't look 'Nice' - or as designed.. Could be a matter of opinion., but it is/was MY opi...
