Re: Cryptojacking
Top Cryptojackers are video streaming websites, and they do not use CoinHive Yes, the first time I noticed a cryptojacking script (Coinhive) was on a video streaming site that was before adblockers started blocking them. While it is true that most of the sites are using their own self hosted soluti...

Re: Anyone tried Google Chrome's adblock?
An interesting article on whether other browsers should use Google's Better Ads list of sites for adblocking and what entails now that Chrome has already done so.

Re: Google's plan to block some ads has ad-tech companies scrambling
Well I guess I wasn't much wrong about Google's adblocker https://www.cnbc.com/2018/02/17/google-chrome-ad-blocking-reactions.html . The members of the Coalition for Better Ads themselves say Google had much influence in what standards were set. Oh and Google carried out the research for determining...

Re: Anyone tried Google Chrome's adblock?
So this is how Chrome's adblocker works: Google periodically checks websites for ad violations against the Better Ads Standards and sends a notice to those who fail them. If the site does not fix the ads within 30 days of receiving the notice Chrome blocks all ads on the site. When a Chrome user vis...

Re: Google Images has removed View Image button
Don't understand why are people making a big deal out of this. That might be because earlier if you clicked " open image in a new tab " on an image (https://i.imgur.com/49BQmjU.jpg) it would load the cached version from Google. And to view the original image file you had to use the "...

Re: Google Images has removed View Image button
Also, Google now loads the image directly from the website when you search instead of its own cache. So your info (IP, referrer etc.) are sent to the website without you even visiting it. These changes don't seem so good to me. https://www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/7xvdkk/google_removed_th...

Google Images has removed View Image button
Google recently removed the " View Image " button from Google Images . So when you open an image on Google Images you won't be able to view it in its full size and to do that you will have to visit the website with their ads tracking etc. and find it on the page itself. As can be seen it i...

It isn't in my browser version yet.
So, if it won't do anything should it be turned off or be left as is?
I meant since it would be happening on the browser level can it block popups and the like that adblockers can't much effectively?

Anyone tried Google Chrome's adblock?
Has anyone tried out Google Chrome's adblocker? I think it was supposed to be released by now but I don't see it in the stable release. Re: Overhauling Changes to WHOIS
More limitations on WHOIS can be seen following the above events. DENIC the German domain registry now requires you to fill out a form stating your purpose before you can see the registrant details of domains. Earlier it only required you to solve a CAPTCHA to see the data. Looks like the WHOIS chan...

eclark Calls from Toll-free numbers are most likely scams or for telemarketing. No need to pick them up. The results of ICANN not enforcing WHOIS compliance can already be seen. GoDaddy has starting masking WHOIS registration details of its customers through the public Port 43 lookup . I am waiting for it to launch. Would like to see if its more effective than an extension or if it can work alongside adblocking extensions.
I hope it can be disabled, in case causes any problem with the adblock extensions.
