Re: Please help understanding new "Accept this answer" feature

Cool, so I'll keep watching this thread, and assume that if someone does come up with guidelines for when/what OPs mark threads as solved, that person will be a list author & they'll post in this thread at that time. For now I'll just decide on my own what constitutes "solved" for thre...

Re: Please help understanding new "Accept this answer" feature

Thanks Lanik, that answers almost all my questions. So as an OP, when do I decide a thread is resolved? Is this totally up to me, or are there specific guidelines (e.g. when a filterlist author has committed working filter(s) to the list, when someone like intense suggests a working filter, or ...)?...

Please help understanding new "Accept this answer" feature

I've noticed that on topics I've started, there is (when I log in) an "Accept this answer" button on every post in the thread. Mouse hover over it shows it points to "/topicsolved/mark/solved/[topic-number]". What does that button do exactly, are there any guidelines for when it ...

Re: Filter optimization

Then it is not possible to optimize those rules any more than you already have... unless the false positive is on a different domain from the elements you want to block, in which case you can simply add a domain exception to intense's suggestion:

Code: Select all

~somedom.ain##[id^="adv"]

Re: strange (wrong ?) suffix ".ip" in domain field?

It would appear to me to be an odd way of making notes about what those IP addresses are.... if that's it, it's not a mistake and those domain exceptions are intended not to be real domains.

It appears to me that that much change to the filters isn't needed. If, instead, you just change @@||intentmedia.net/adServer/$script,domain=travelzoo.com to @@||intentmedia.net/adServer/$script,xmlhttprequest,domain=travelzoo.com does that work? Now the widget works but the "Regular static content, should not be blocked" is blocked. Please remove

Can these get into the standard list for our customers (I am the VP of development there) so our support group doesn't have to deal with the calls? fanboy has already added an exception covering both issues to the master list, so at this point it's just a matter of waiting for the customers' lists ...

Re: tradetracker.net

The rotatator.tradetracker.net is purely a container which eventually loads ti.tradetracker.net ads so I'm guessing that if ti.tradetracker.net is on the list, rotator.tradetracker.net will not render anything anyway, right? Well, since its only purpose is for ad serving, no reason to load it. I th...

hellobar.com whitelist obsolete?

The whitelist filter added in https://hg.adblockplus.org/easylist/rev/d335f36e0017 seems to no longer apply to the site it was added for - it didn't show up in blockable items when I went there (with and without JavaScript enabled).
Is it obsolete?

Enhanced Tracking blocks trackers which can be problematic to block (and it can sometimes has some "experimental" filters in it) while Annoyances blocks things that are likely to annoy the user looking at website. The two lists have totally different scopes, so you need to decide which of ...
