It could be like Yahoo Mail, where the mail pane is deliberately reduced in size to fit the ad space, rather than the ad space just taking up room and the pane filling in what's left.

The browser- (and possibly extension-) specific nature is related, and also much like in that thread, statuses can be posted just fine if I add those three whitelist rules, and they either don't post, or post but without the link previews, if I don't add those rules, so it's not something server-sid...

I haven't fully tested it, but I know that when I disable uBlock Origin, the notifications load again; for now I've just gone to the "See All" view, but I might bother to see what filter(s) cause the problem.

Maybe it had to do with precisely how fresh the filter list was: The issue only happened recently for me, and less than a day later, the issue went away, probably because they actually did fix the issue in Fanboy's Annoyances.

I had thought that that was intended only for end-users who wish to override filter-lists with unresponsive maintainers, but I now see that Fanboy uses this technique to better organize his lists.
