Re: Google's new "Chrome" browser now available
saw this on lifehacker today, and it interests me. (still wont use chrome without adblock though) from http://lifehacker.com/5054276/iron-is-google-chrome-for-the-tinfoil-hat-crowd: Windows only: Free application Iron is a slightly modified version of the Chromium source of Google Chrome that remove...

Re: Google's new "Chrome" browser now available
i've been trying to keep an open mind, so i downloaded chrome and gave it a try. pretty speedy - but i cannot stand browsing the web without an adblocker. i used a program called privoxy to create an adblocking proxy on my local computer. that took care of the ads... but still left big gaping ugly h...

Re: World of Warcraft funeral raid
hah, that's alliance for ya :). i thought i remember something like this happening back when i used to play a couple of years ago. seem to remember reading about it all over the realm forums. edit: this is pretty oldschool. after i noticed the rogue only critting for 1.2k, the old t2 gear, and wowac...

Re: np7esk32 ~ ActiveX in Firefox 3
makes me a bit nervous to have activex in my everyday browser in the form of non-official extension. i prefer to explicitly load up IE any time i need to run an activex control. which, now a days, only consists of stuff right off microsoft's site like windows update. i suppose it wouldn't be so bad ...

Re: Opens tiny window
try this: hit alt+space while the window is selected. if all goes well you should get a dropdown menu, where you can hit "s" for size, and adjust with arrow keys
if that doesn't work, does it act the same if you try under a new firefox profile?

Re: Forcing extension compatibility in Firefox 3 RC1
I use this addon to force extension compatibility: Nightly Tester Tools: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6543 As its name implies, its an addon for those who test the nightly builds of firefox. Once its installed, it adds an "override all compatibility" option in your tools ...

Re: EasyList and Adblock Plus story in the Washington Post.
like jack123, this story is what (indirectly) brought me to this forum as well, even though i've been using adblock plus for ages. i found the WP story through techdirt's coverage of it:

Re: ABP and telemarketers
i wish there was a way to write an app on the iphone that ties in with the actual telephone part. you could maintain a "blocklist" of phone numbers, and when the number called, the app would simply disconnect them. perhaps by muting the sound, picking up the call really quick and hanging u...

Re: An idea to change the ad model
^ and of course i make my first post here without logging in  I do like this idea much better than the current ad model. I do think that over time though, it would become difficult to trust people's product recommendations. When being offered money, many people will not hesitate to recommend a...
