Rick752

It's with great sadness that have to announce the passing of a good friend and our EasyList author, Rick752. Rick had suffered a stroke on St Patrick' Day, and I was just informed that Rick had passed away last evening. During this short period, while hospitalized, Rick had his family very close by ...

I have no problems with a "fancy, schmancy OS" to a point, a fresh UI, new icons and such never hurt anyone !!. Yeah, wont hurt you, me anyone that would probably actually even visit this forum. But give it to a secretary or high level exec that has no interest in "computers" at...

Re: WinXP Service Pack 3 to be released on April 29th

Anyone here participating in the Windows 7 Beta? I've been running it in a VM for the past couple weeks. Just loaded it on a spare HD in my laptop about an hour ago (yeah, it's still working! ) I hear it's a bit faster than Vista; it was supposed to be comparible to Windows 2000 in speed wi...

How many zeros in a billion??

I bet I've forwarded only about 3 emails in my life and THIS wasn't even one of them.. but I did think it deserved a post in the "Interesting & Humorous" section.. The whole Louisiana part DOES make you think. How many zeros in a billion? This is too true to be funny. The next time you...

Re: Proxy.pac Auto-Configuration Script

Thanks, Rick. I'll try that. I did post in miscellaneous / computer topics, just taking the odds that someone could point me in the right direction. Not necessarily to be answered here, but I figured a forum member might be able to re-direct me. I already have a post on Experts Exchange . I think I ...

Proxy.pac Auto-Configuration Script

Brain storming here... Auto-Configuration script - Proxy *.pac file configuration. Here's the scenario: Speaking IE language here, one would typically go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings and set an Auto-configuration URL for a proxy pac file. (Same applies to FireFox but navigat...

Anti-virus comparison test of current anti-malware products

I found this interesting: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/alex/Results_2D2008m3b_US.htm It compares all of the big players in anti virus and grades them side by side, if your interested. EDIT: I just discovered that one of my collegues took it one step further and transformed it into a numerical...

Re: Forum hanging up

I used to run check, optimize and repair tables from right within phpMyAdmin. You can always give that a shot and see if it helps. For 2x I had the maintenance mod, I don't remember for sure but I thought phpBB3 has the maintenance mod built into the ACP.

Does anyone know Crystal Reports? I have NO knowledge of it. I do know that you can compile the report so that folks without a Crystal license can run it. I have a report that I want to run that way.

Thoughts?

Database driven desktop notification 'widget'

Has anyone ever seen any type of application like this? ... I would like to build or download something that I can use a PHP interface to a MySQL database, or even a TEXT or XLS file, etc. located on a server that will display the results preferrably something like BGInfo does. Maybe even an RSS fee...

Re: ***EasyList Forum to close in the near future***

phpBB upgrades do not like modded forums. I see Lanik is using phpBB Styles and that may have something to do with it. I suggest installing 3 from scratch or I will zip up what we have and it can be downloaded and just extracted to the new host server, then export our data which can also be download...
