Thanks I'll try with uBO. I am using Brave adblocking.

When attempting to page through content, or when doing almost anything on the site, it creates tabs with ads in them.

There is an empty box in the right column left over after ads are blocked titled "CLOSE THIS AD". Clicking on it hides the box.

Would be nice to have adblockers hide this box since the ad is being blocked.

If you look at the comments for an article in bostonglobe.com there's sometimes avatar gifs. These are being blocked by this rule in uBlock Origin Unbreak:

The solution may be to add bostonglobe.com to the excluded domains.

Yellow banner at the bottom which says to turn off adblocker. Banner doesn't always appear. I tried enabling more lists but it still shows up.

Right but the whitelist in AdGuard Base is also whitelisting the ad images.
