AFAIK Thunderbird will be going away and will be possibly replaced by SpiceBird: http://www.spicebird.com I've been using it since the first beta came out and I like it a lot. So far lots to do manually to transfer email, settings, contacts, extension etc but soon I'm sure there will be a GUI built to do just that.

Spicebird ... Now I remember that :

Anything notable about it compared to Thunderbird now that you have been using it for awhile, Lanik?

Quite a few things are notable. EVERYTHING is tabbed I mean everything. You have your home tab which resembles Outlook home page and tab for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and I'm sure more in the future. Its using Tango theme from Linux which I'm quite found off at the moment. I've got all my TB extensions to work ones I needed anyway. Its quite functional some things of course don't work I've seen lots of bug reports but I haven't encountered any issues as of late so we'll see where this goes. I was under the impression we won't be seeing TB 3.0 but if they want to release it more power to them I'm pretty happy using Spicebird.

OpenOffice.org 3.0 is set to include a PIM app based on Mozilla Thunderbird with Lightning integrated, it'll be really interesting to see how that works out - sounds almost like they're just working on Thunderbird 3.0 and planning on bundling it though.
