The problem is regarding reddit popout modal scrolling. Unfortunately it's not reproducible for unsigned users and it's only for new reddit (not old reddit design)
When you click on a post from the home page it opens up in a new popup/modal/dialog and the default behavior without the list is the scrollbar is controlling the new view of the modal, not the home page. In the video below, when using Fanboy's Annoyance List there is a second scrollbar and when interacting with that the site/browser considers that click in the website's viewport not the scrollbar hence the dialog closing on using the scrollbar.
The same problem was happening for Twitter and Facebook using similar dialog/modal for image posts but it was resolved last week on its own for the two sites.
