FileFront's blocked ads for downloading files... [n/a]

Post by ant »

Examples: http://files.filefront.com/World of War ... einfo.html
http://files.filefront.com/Project Afte ... einfo.html
Or any Web pages to download files...

EasyList (USA)'s Filter (updated a few minutes ago):

Addresses: ##*[class*="bannerAd"]
##*[id$="AdArea"]
Filters: ##*[id$="AdArea"]
##*[id$="AdArea"]

Used SeaMonkey v1.1.16 in an updated Windows XP Pro. SP3. Thank you in advance. :)

This seems to a SeaMonkey (Gecko 1.8?) problem: Element Hiding rules seem to be not case-sensitive:

##*[id$="AdArea"] (note the upper case "A")
hides the div id=downloadArea (lower case "a")

So I suggest you just disable the filter yourself.

I haven't tested it, but I guess switching to SeaMonkey 2 would fix it too.

Yes, disabling this will work. Hence how I discovered the filter causing the problem. Is there a way to add a custom filter (in my custom list) to ignore this line since I keep your filters updated every five days or less?

I won't be using SeaMonkey v2 until it is stable. It is only in alpha. :( Doesn't Firefox v2 have this problem too since it is based on Gecko v1.8?

Once disabled, it stays disabled until I change the filter.

Seamonkey 2.0b1 will be out soon. Stable enough?

I didn't test it but I do think so. However, according to https://addons.mozilla.org/statistics/addon/1865 only ~5% of all Adblock Plus users still use it, and the next Adblock Plus version will drop Gecko 1.8.0 support anyway, so I'm not going to bother with them.

Edit: Should be Gecko 1.8.1

2.0b1 is still beta (prerelease). I mean final and stable. :)

As for dropping support Gecko v1.8.0, does that mean dropping SeaMonkey even though it hasn't been released as a final version? When is the next release of ABP? :(

You will have to ask Wladimir. I would say not before Firefox 3.5 comes out.
