Je rencontre actuellement de gros problèmes de navigation sur certains de mes forums hébergés sur Forumactif. Après en avoir parlé sur Twitter, il s'avère que je ne suis pas la seule concernée. D'autres personnes utilisant Adblock rencontrent les mêmes problèmes quand Adblock est activé sur un forum Forumactif : saturation de la mémoire de Chrome, PC qui se met à ventiler fort et page qui finit en erreur. Quand on désactive l'extension, les problèmes disparaissent.

Il suffit de visiter un forum et d'avoir l'onglet ouvert depuis un certain temps pour que Google Chrome affiche l'erreur de saturation de mémoire. Vous pouvez le reproduire sur :

Visiblement, le problème est lié au bandeau cookies et à un blocage dans la liste Easylist d'après leur retour :

Le problème étant que je dois désactiver Adblock pour pouvoir utiliser mes forums. Est-il possible de revoir ce blocage problématique afin de pouvoir naviguer normalement sur les forums sans publicité ?

What adblocker are you using ? (chrome version ? adblocker version ?)
Are you using other blocking extensions ?

I tested the first page above in uBO (uBlock Origin adblocker) and I see nothing suspicious

I'm using the last version of Google Chrome + "AdBlock". You can find it here:

You can see the problem in these screenshots. The memory usage only increases until the browser crashes. On the other hand, if I deactivate Adblock, I no longer have this problem.

According the discussion on the support forum, the origin of this problem seems to be a conflict between their CMP provider (regarding the GDPR) and this blocking:

For example to take screenshots, I followed the steps:

• I opened Chrome with the Adblock extension enabled with "Français + EasyList".
• I opened the forum home page.
• I kept the tab open and waited several minutes. The memory increases little by little until it is full. The time to get the memory problem depends on the performance of your PC (RAM...).

On the other hand, a very important thing, the problem is linked to the cookie banner and you must therefore be in a country where the GDPR applies: France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom...

No, I reproduce it as a visitor not logged.

As mentioned, we must mainly be careful to be in a country where there is the scripts of the CMP + to have the French Easylist list.

ok, got it on this second page, using ABP (your AB is using same ABP engine)

1. disable your adblocker from extensions page
2. install uBO => https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... iagm?hl=fr
3. after installation go into options, dashboard, filter lists page, click "purge all caches", click "update now"

Open a new tab where you'll test that page. See what happens.

OK I disabled the 2 extensions (Adblock + Adblock Plus) and after that, I installed uBO + updated the list and I don't reproduce the memory problem.

ok, just remove those "best" adblockers, keep uBO and you'll have no issue. Tell your other friends to do the same.

(don't ever use 2 adblockers together, no other blocking extension => uBO takes care of all the crap on the various sites)

Thank you for the advice but it doesn't solve the problem in any way.

It is impossible to explain to every member and other users who use Adblock or Adblock Plus to uninstall these extensions and install uBo to have normal browsing.

You have to understand that I receive about 10 complaints from my members per day. I imagine that every owner of a forum has the same concern.

What I would like is that there are no more these problems please.

Maybe if you add this custom filter, the issue will be less invasive:

Maybe you can dedicate a page / thread to this issue with all the indications above => best fix is using uBO (not only for this issue but for a lot of others)

Thank you for your advice. Last question: I just read on Adblock Plus that their Easylist list is not linked to the Easylist community (therefore to this forum).

You could open an issue with ABP: https://gitlab.com/eyeo/adblockplus/adb ... e/-/issues
and describe what happens, all details and .. then waiting for a fix .. months ? years ?

It's not "their Easylist list", it's another proprietary list (cv list, circumventing list which takes care of some very nasty ads on various pages - all this years after uBO and adguard implemented advanced solutions)

Alors non, je ne pense pas que les problèmes étaient liés aux 2 adblockers installés. En fait j'ai installé le second pour tester suite aux questions posées plus haut (ainsi que uBO d'ailleurs). Mais j'avais bien les problème en ayant seulement un seul Adblocker sur mon navigateur.

Super pour la suppression ou modification de ce blocage.

J'ai également envoyé un message à l'équipe Adblock Plus car j'ai lu que ce blocage était présent sur leur propre liste :
