1800flowers problem [fixed]

Post by jimg »

I understand that abp should be off when visiting commerce sites, but...

when visiting http://1800flowers.com, some nav / background elements are blocked in conjunction with current offerings.

Example: the logo
(http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... assets/jet
/website/images/flowers/banners/18flogo.gif)

a search box header
(http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... assets/jet
/website/images/flowers/banners/findagiftfast_purple.gif)

and four category images
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/banc_mini_g.gif
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/bana_generic_luxury.gif
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/banc_disc.gif
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/banc_generic_birthday2.gif

disappear when ABP is active.

Sales banners also go away
One on top
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/ban_top_save40vg.gif

two on the bottom
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/ban_homepage_sameday1_eg.gif
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/ban_homepage_wintersale.gif

and one on the right
http://a764.g.akamai.net/f/764/16742/1h ... ssets/jet/
website/images/flowers/banners/top_r_freevase.gif

Perhaps

Code: Select all

*/banners/*$~background
is a bit too strict.

If you are at a site that is there to sell you something (especially at the retail level) ... they WILL have ads. Unfortunately, ABP cannot determine which sites you want to see ads on ... and the endless chore of blacklisting sites on a one-by-one basis or trying to whitelist EVERY site that uses an 'ad'-type of server would be a near impossible task for anyone to accomplish and would need 10's of 1000's of filter strings.

So it makes sense that if you are online for the purpose of "shopping", simply disabling ABP should be an automatic thing to do for anyone visiting online shopping sites (as stated here):

*EDIT*
BUT, because this is a very large site, I will whitelist these blocks
