We've noticed that some important links we use were included into easylist blacklist databases
I'd like to ask if you could check your listings and remove all sites that might have been caught up and contains NordVPN mentioned in URL, as well as addresses with aff_c? element.
Reproducing the issue is simple: when anyone with ad-blocker activated tries to click on a link, like, for example, this one: https://go.nordvpn.net/aff_c?offer_id=51&aff_id=826&url_id=934 , page does not show up and gets automatically blocked.
Similar issues are happening when trying to open any link with go.nordvpn.net
We do not prompt any intrusive ads, these links are only used to gather our inside statistics. If there is any possibility of getting this issue escalated - please let me know whom should we contact to.
Modifying all affected links in our case is very complicated and will take a lot of time. As it is now, it damages our competitiveness as other players in the market are unaffected. Would it be possible to whitelist the element at least for a couple of months? In that time we would be able to switch to a different system and permanently solve the issue this way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this situation is very harmful for us.
Thank you for the response. Our rules forbid any form of advertising through aggressive pop-ups, we have already taken necessary means to resolve the issue asap. We will also do everything in our power to minimize any similar occurrences from happening in the future. Meanwhile what else can we do in order for you to at least temporary whitelist our URL's? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
We have contacted kickasstorrents to cease the pop-up abuse immediately and will notify you as soon as they stop. Meanwhile, is there any other reason why more of our URLs got blocked?
We endorse what you do and find it to be terrific; we understand the good cause and your intentions. However, adding nordvpn.com^*?utm_source$popup to your list leads to blocking a wide range of legitimate links from our partners.
We are monitoring all of our ads and preventing any form of abuse; however, the whole process after an issue is noticed takes some time. It is never our intention to annoy anyone or advertise aggressively.
We understand that /aff_c?offer_id$popup element might be abused by not only our affiliates but also other organizations, and we only ask you to provide us with some time to change our links. However, blocking nordvpn.com^*?utm_source$popup delivers us a heavy blow.
The situation, as it is now, impacts people with an actual intent of using our services to protect their security and privacy. For example, only NordVPN is affected on PC Mag’s best VPN list https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2403388,00.asp and that is not really fair. Anyone with an ad-block active will be unable to visit our website by clicking on the link.
We would really be thankful if you could let us know if any other of our ads might have been the reason why we have appeared on your blocking list (apart from those on kickasstorrents). We will make sure to address the issue immediately.
The work that you do is really appreciated, and we ourselves provide a service with an ad-block feature included. All we ask is some clarification and time to get everything fixed on our end without delivering us direct damage
are you referring to the "SEE IT" links on the pcmag article? Because those link perfectly fine, including to nordvpn for me with ublock origin enabled.
