We're an intelligent link management company, and recently we've run into an issue where EasyList is blocking short-links that contain our domain.

We're unfamiliar with the protocol here but any help getting our domain removed from the blocked list would be much appreciated!

You should provide the steps to reproduce your issue.

there is only 1 filter in easylist regarding your domain
pcgamesn.com##a[href^="http://geni.us/"]

and another 1 in easyprivacy
||geni.us/snippet.js

It's about the tacking script ?

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="//cdn.geni.us/snippet.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function() {
var tsid =12345;
Genius.amazon.convertLinks(tsid, false, "http://buy.geni.us"); });
</script>
e.g http://www.sirgo.com/

Apologies! I was unclear about the actual case where this was happening. It looks like Adblock is preventing our JS snippet from firing.

Here's an example page from PCWorld where our snippet is installed and getting stopped by EasyList.

Thanks!

well, it's complicated:

You'd need:

for easylist:
pcworld.com#@#.product-sidebar

easyprivacy (otherwise the link is pointing directly to amazon and not to ...buy.geni.us):
@@||cdn.georiot.com/snippet.js$script,domain=pcworld.com

for ublock privacy (for uBo users gorhill okiehsch ):
@@||googletagmanager.com/gtm.js$script,domain=pcworld.com

Well, for example the first whitelisted element could be seen as ad, I don't know if the easylist authors want to add these filters ..

Hi Intense, thanks for the response. We're not super familiar with how these lists work, so please excuse our ignorance!

We had a similar issue a few years ago, which was resolved at the time. viewtopic.php?f=64&t=26427

Is it because georiot.com still exists in easylist_adservers?

To reiterate what was said in the previous thread, our code is NOT ads related in any way and the purpose of the snippet is to find, globalize, and affiliate all iTunes, Amazon, and Microsoft Play links on a person's site. It is the simple way to create those links instead of having to manually go through your site and manually change each one. This is very similar to both Skimlinks and Viglinks, which appear to already be whitelisted.

Any more light you could shed on this for us would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi everyone, is it possible to get a bump for this thread? We're still having issues with cdn.geni.us being blocked, and it's starting to effect more of our users.

If we could get cdn.geni.us added to easyprivacy_trackingservers that would probably resolve our problem, as the previous issue was resolved by having our old domain cdn.georiot.com added to the same list.

It would be much appreciated if we could get this resolved as soon as possible! Thanks!

It's possible: rules#bump

Bump please! (And our apologies for sounding like a broken record)

We're still having issues with cdn.geni.us being blocked, and it's beginning to cause problems for other users.

We're an intelligent link management platform which allows our clients to build geo-localizing affiliate links to products on Amazon, iTunes, etc. We also provide a WordPress plugin which automatically detects raw Amazon and iTunes links on the clients site, and converts existing links to our localized format, saving them migration time when first joining the service. Any tracking being done is purely a benefit for the users of our service, and we do not sell or otherwise manipulate the data coming from link clicks - only reporting it to the client.

Unfortunately, it looks like both our shorturl domain, and the related JS script used in the plugin are both in the EasyPrivacy list, which means our clients can't benefit from our service when a visitor is using an adblocker, even though the links are functionally the same as raw Amazon or iTunes product links. How can we facilitate in getting these updated? Do we need to provide any evidence to get them whitelisted?

Here are the two entries:

Code: Select all

||geni.us^$third-party
||geni.us/snippet.js
Thank you for your help!

I'm not comfortable in removing this, you're a tracking company, and you don't like being blocked. I get that.

uBo enables Easyprivacy by default (its their choice here), best to complain to uBo and not us.

Hi Fanboy,

Thanks for the quick response. We completely understand that maintaining the integrity of this list is your priority, but we’re still a bit confused about your definition of “tracking company”.

Would you mind sharing more details about what we’re currently doing that labels us as such?

Thanks for your help!
