tritondigital.com

Post by twoshay »

Please consider removing these two entries from the EasyList:

Code: Select all

||tritondigital.com/lt?sid*&hasads=
||tritondigital.com/ltflash.php?
These URL’s do not act as part of any ad serving software and have no visible-in-browser components. They’re part of an audience-measurement process for internet radio. Blocking the measurement doesn’t currently prevent listening, but the blocking is an issue for our clients… they rely on accurate audience measurement (similar to how a website might rely on Google Analytics web page measurements).

If you need to see how this works interactively, www.accuradio.com would be a good example. There’s nothing visible, so you’d need to see it via an HTTP proxy/capture (like Fiddler, Charles, Wireshark, or something similar). Playing any of the channels will start recurring calls to lt160.tritondigital.com, starting with a call to /lt?sid. The ‘hasads’ parameter on the /lt?sid page is used by some clients as a measurement attribute, not an ad-serving control.

Just let me know if there’s additional detail you’d need to support this request.

Checking back on this... one of our options would be to direct this traffic through another domain, but we really don't want to come off as playing whack-a-mole with the list editors (move domains, you block that one, move again, etc.). Not a good game, especially when these are non-ad-serving urls and getting blocked is causing a functionality issue for our clients.

Another example of this url in use, though it doesn't 100% match the block filter (different parameters), can be seen at:
https://www.youradio.cz .
If you click any channel we'll record the 'start of playing' event via https://lt210.tritondigital.com/lt?sid=25088.
