We're seeing LOTS of reports on Twitter that Twitch.tv is showing just a black screen or streams aren't loading and that disabling adblock (whichever one they're using) fixes the issue. This started happening just the other day. I'm on Twitter now, and the tweets are just pouring in. One user DM'd us just now that AdBlock is blocking the Flash player on Twitch and is messing up chat, too.

No tickets have been submitted to our help desk, so no debug into to help you. I'll try to get more info from the user who DM'd us.

Update: Another Twitter user advises that disabling the HTML5 player can also help. Does that suggest anything to you? The only consistent solution, however, seems to be disabling ad blockers.

Another update: Someone else says it's happening on mobile, too, and on his desktop without an ad blocker installed. Now others are saying that disabling their ad blocker doesn't help or they don't have an ad blocker at all. Someone else says he's seeing the black screen on every stream and he has Twitch Prime!

Ah, someone else is advising folks to disable the HTML5 player.

All better now. It was unrelated to ad blockers, EasyList, or possibly even the HTML5 player. It was a server-side issue, according to the Customer Experience Product Lead at Twitch.
