They forward the "store" through an adserver.

Code: Select all

@@||shareasale.com^$popup,domain=girlsjustwannahaveguns.com
That'll fix it.

search the forum:
viewtopic.php?p=116209#p116209

now you could ask the site's owner to remove the crappy ads on his site

Code: Select all

Been directed here by the site for a fix as not keen on uninstalling YouBlock unless I have to. It seems YouBlock is breaking portions of the site in my browser.

Not sure what I need to do or request in order to get to a resolution?

Peace,
Jay

I've been seeing a lot of issues caused by websites using Yavli services. I haven't browsed this thread but from what it seems the Yavli guys seem to be deliberately breaking sites by picking out filters from the EasyList in order to prevent adblock usage, is this correct?

I heard about Yavli before all these issues popped up, didn't know they'd be putting up dirty tricks like these.

Hey,

Been directed here from my earlier thread: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=36452

I don’t see why you guys haven’t fixed this in the EasyList opposed to making everyone add a custom filter, would make our lives a lot easier.

As far as I can see from a forum search a filter has been removed that breaks the images on USHerald. I am not keen on custom filters as they are very labor intensive to add to multiple devices, please fix.

Contact the site to remove locally hosted Yavli ads, otherwise it'll stay like it is.

So I fully understand the situation before contacting the site it seems you are saying the site needs to remove 1st party [local] ads as the only way EasyList can block these ads is by breaking critical site functionality. So if the site wants to function properly for EasyList users then it must remove Yavli right?

It is a Yavli issue, so removing it would fix it. See this post;

I must be missing something here.

Its clear as day the EasyList filter is causing the broken site functionality, you even say as much.

Why not just block the ads without breaking crucial site functionality? Win win for everyone then.

This looks like to be the problematic filter: https://bpaste.net/raw/cd85c14b8bff

I suspect there are hundreds more issues like this.

I emailed the site, seems they were already aware of the issue and simply said to either un-install my ad blocker or wait for if/when EastList fix the filter.

I read the post you linked first time round, from my view as an AdBlock user it seems as if the EasyList users have lost, we cannot access a fully functioning site anymore.

Yes, that's what they want you to think and apparently in your case and the rest here, they're succeeding, but only by a small amount.

@Smed79, @Intense, @Lanik, @-Mark- et al., if it saves you having to type the same answer over and over again, feel free to refer folks to this article in our Knowledge Base:

Code: Select all

https://help.getadblock.com/solution/articles/6000170849-images-are-blocked-or-a-store-link-is-broken-on-a-website
It (very briefly) summarizes the preceding discussion and provides Intense's filter along with instructions for adding it to AdBlock, ABP, and uBO. And I'd appreciate a heads-up and correction if anyone spots an error, thanks!

rhanajoy For uBO, no need to whitelist anything, we've yavli-defuser.js in the resources arsenal of uBO, you might wanna add that.
To apply,

Code: Select all

example.com##script:inject(yavli-defuser.js)

While helpful, yavli-defuser is really only targeted to uBo and no other adblock tools.

Thanks Intense but that is just a small part of the problem, for example http://politicaloutcast.com/ is also completely broken, no links on the homepage work. This custom filter list is going to have to be INFINITE to cover them all.

Also note there is A LOT of images missing from the middle of articles. All these images need whitelisting.

As do the social buttons at the top of articles just below the authors picture.

If you want to whitelist the Yavli ads which is not recommended viewtopic.php?p=116152#p116152
