@Khrin thank you very much, I've manually updated my adblock filter list and I no longer have problems. I have two follow up questions though:

1. how long does it normally take for adblock users (AB and ABP) to have their list auto updated so that they no longer see the issue? I understand that it can vary, but just an estimate would be helpful

2. I didn't realize that being on that list completely messes with analytics and thus I now see that my analytics have been very inaccurate (not working for anybody with adblock/abp). Is there any possibility of getting information as to when gamezone.com was added to the yavli filter? I know the initial post you gave was from August 2015, but I'm wondering if that's how long gamezone.com has been on that list or if it was later added and at what date?

Thank you, again, much appreciated for your help.

Hi @Khrin,

I have updated my lists, removal from this Yavli filter does not seem to have impacted on the site at all?

Can you suggest anything else we can do?

The only lists I am seeing in my ad block are Easy List and AdBlock warning removal list.

I would really appreciate the help, as I mentioned the site is unusable with Adblock turned on.

Thanks,

Sam.

hey @AlexanderJohn, are you sure you updated your list? I just checked your site after mine was removed off the Yavli list and I updated it, and it seems like your site is functioning properly now as well.

Hey Guys,

I hope you're good.

The sites that we maintain look being block by adblock, we find an article “Issues with Yavli Advertising” and notice that these websites been blocked because of Yavli issue.

Code: Select all

christianpost.com
christiantoday.com
christianexaminer.com
We had Yavli almost 1 years ago but already stop running for long time. Could you able to remove us from the block list so we can solve the many complains of unusable issue.

Thank you very much.

I have noticed loads of links on sites that open in a new window or tab broken, to name a few:

clashdaily.com : "Outdoor Beasts" link in main menu broken as well as all "stores" links.
comicallyincorrect.com : "Store" link in menu bar broken.
reviveusa.com : "Store" link in menu bar broken.
libertyalliance.com : "Stores" links in menu bar broken.

This looks like to be the problematic filter: https://bpaste.net/raw/cd85c14b8bff

I suspect there are hundreds more issues like this.

I'm going to sticky this for a while since this seems to be a popular topic lately. I'll remove it once I see it's no longer an issue.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

On the website yourtango.com, the entire main content is being blocked when my ad blocker is turned on. Turning it off fixes it and I properly see the main content of an article. Example page:

Code: Select all

Hi Admin,

We have been getting numerous reports from ad blocking users today that images on our site are broken.

I am reasonably familiar with ad blocking and its principals, it appears you are blocking all third party images. Note we use hundreds of different sources for images so this has made the articles very empty, or in some cases they dont have any context without images.

Please resolve.

I got a link to an article from my friend but all the content of the article is hidden.
Site isn't usable with ABP, I've tried both FireFox and chrome.

@tgp-dev

Text links and headlines are hidden all over the sites.

This looks like the problematic filter:

Code: Select all

No what we're saying is if you're insist on using Yavli you have to be willing to live with the consequences.

In my book thats blackmail :)

What do you suggest i do, put up a message alerting ad blocking users that the site is missing numerous images due to their ad blocker, to fix the images they should un-install their ad blocker or request a fix on this forum.

It's not up to me to tell you what to do. One thing for sure if you put up a message telling users to come here for a "fix" it's not likely to happen at all. Just ask p0rnhub how it's working out for them.

Hi Lanik,

For transparency i cant remove the units even if i wanted to as i am under a lengthy contract. To be honest i would not want to remove them anyway as they serve as a great revenue source to allow me to stay above water.

Just read the PH thread, the Admins are removing the bad filters so the site functions properly. I assume its best to give it a day to wait for the fix. Also to re-quote the EasyList policy:

"Consistently problematic filters should be removed from the subscription."

Which this issue will fall under so that looks like the answer to me.

Maybe if a site doesn't constantly roll out revolving adservers/adscripts, then blame us for countering then we wouldn't be in this situation. The finger pointing on blame is certainty isn't only in one direction.
