frog.wix.com

Post by benjaminbwix »

It has been brought to our attention that ads on our free user based websites are being blocked by yourselves.

We would like to have this reviewed. The domain in question is frog.wix.com. The purpose of the ads are only to advertise ourselves.

Hey (the other thread is locked),

My name is Eli and I am a member of the ICU (production / DevOps support / Operations) team at Wix.

We have lately discovered that your list of ads that is used in Opera's Ad-block (and many other ad-blockers) and is blocking all of the communication to our BI collecting servers (frog.wix.com).

These BI events help us address our users' (and your users) problems and measure their performance both in Sites created by Wix users and our different programs and applications. It is a crucial mechanism to our business.

On another note, we supply free sites using a freemium model. We allow users to open free sites, with ads. Those ads are advertising only Wix, and usually say: This site was build with Wix. You can build your own sites for free! (or something very similar).

These free sites usually have a username.wix.com/sitename or username.wixsite.com/sitename address. Please do not block these ads as they are not intrusive and pretty fair.

Thanks,

Hi,

We are using it to collect data and statistics for internal monitoring purposes. These include notifying us of site down / uptown, successful load of site, etc.

It is merely an internal metrics data collector in the pixel.

Hi,

We don't block wix.com in the main adblock list, Easyprivacy is the only list where it is block. This list is designed for stopping tracking, metrics, measuring and stats on users. The main issue is that Opera includes both lists (Easylist and Easyprivacy) enabled by default, which isn't something we can control.
