(Vidible.TV) "easy-list" is blocking our dynamic video player requests by mistake

Post by AolVideoSupport »

Hello,

I am from Vidible.tv tech support and following on a partners complaint that his video player is being blocked. Could you please review?

It appears that your "easy-list" is blocking our dynamic video player requests paths. Vidible is actually not an advertiser but a video exchange platform that provides various features such as the ability to run advertisements in our player. This is the exact same scenario is for instance a Brightcove.com Player or a JW Player or Ooyala.com player. We feel our domain should be white listed and removed from the "easy-list" ( https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easylist.txt ) since we do not act as an ad, rather just provide a player technology where our clients can run ads within.

Unfortunately vidible is seems to be blocked by AdBlock with EasyList (on eof the main AdBlock lists across all browsers).
Loading videos while having AdBlock on is failing with the following error: http://delivery.vidible.tv/jsonp/pid=55 ... 03a2eee.js Failed to load resource: net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT (See attached screenshot of my network console as part of the chrome dev tools). In EasyList the following url is specifically listed: delivery.vidible.tv/jsonp/pid=$third-party

Please see the following EasyList blocked domain: https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/easylist.txt

I tried this with the different players on our site. See and example: http://www.shopspree.co/tests/vidible?v ... ac331251c3

Without the AdBlock everything works as expected.

Environment data:
* AdBlock 2.42.1
* Chrome Version 46.0.2490.86 (64-bit)
* Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

Can you please advise us what we can do?

Thank you!

@Lanik - I apologize for the double post. I thought that the reason I don't get any replies is the confusing topic subject, and since I cannot edit it I went ahead and opened a new one...

And on topic - is there something that can be done? Is there some standard procedure?

Thanks!

Sorry for the issue, removed now: https://hg.adblockplus.org/easylist/rev/e81da836509f

EasyList is automatically updated by the clients in four days, so in around a week the fix should be applied for everyone. You can verify yourself by forcing the subscription update on your adblocker.

@Vidible
Could you please advise us how to block your ads on pages like http://www.xtremedotnettalk.com/interop ... plete.html or http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/newbie ... minal.html without blocking your regular player?

Hi MonztA,

Our ad server runs from the domain http://ads.vidible.tv. Blocking this domain will block ads but not the entire player and video content.

If you have any further questions let me know.

Thanks, Uri

ads.vidible.tv is already blocked, yet the videos (which I consider as ads) on those 2 pages play without any interaction. This one of them: http://cdn.vidible.tv/prod/2015-11/25/5 ... 168_v1.mp4
