The site still contains adverts on the right side of the page. Adblocking them doesn't work as they show up the next time.

I don't see anything on this page any more. Please post an ABP issue report: rules#issuereport

I still see ads sometimes on this site too. I tried doing the ABP Issue report and it told me I have to many filter lists so I think it can be caused by having too many filters. I've tried to disable some but I still sometimes get ads, It might be a filter conflict but it's hard to tell for me.

You can either remove each filter list one by one and test or start over using portable version of the browser. Either way from what I see the problem is with your adblocker setup.

When I right click the advert in the bottom left and "view background image", I see it encoded as below. -

Probably you are using ABP for firefox.
Try this filter:
