Ads like these were not blocked, and also cannot be blocked manually.

Hi ...
I use CHROME Browser under WIN OS.

http://www.allkpop.com
At the above website, they are using some type of manner to insert ADS (Images) into their list of articles there.

With CHROME ; If you 'right click' (menu) and choose INSPECT ; you see a LONG list (about 50) entries that looks like this:

<span class="XWWwAYEyRg" id="FCinFBrm">

These seem to be a LIST of ADS that are cycled by this website.

I was hoping that there was a manner to 'SCRIPT' of 'CSS' block these? I am not able to figure it out. And the list of ADS is a LONG one. Which makes blocking them on an INDIVIDUAL manner as not desired. And I am NOT able to figure yet even how to block them individually via the 'Select Ad Components to Block' manner of doing it. You can add them as a CUSTOM FILTER, but it does NOT block anything as a result. For the above mentioned example, you get this CUSTOM FILTER:

www.allkpop.com###FCinFBrm.XWWwAYEyRg

BUT, that does NOT block anything when added to your CUSTOM FILTER LIST.

Again, I am NOT able to figure this out, looking for help, thanks. :)

Thanks for your prompt reply. I did try (WIN OS) these above in ADBLOCK PLUS 1.13.2 EXTENSION for CHROME Browser. It did NOT solve the ADS problem that I described it. However, it MAY work for others ; who knows.

Let me add that, since I did post my original message, I was tipped to try "UBLOCK ORIGIN" EXTENSION (Ad Blocker) for CHROME Browser. This 'UBO' does WORK for me with ALLKPOP website. It successfully blocks the offending ADS with NO CUSTOM FILTER involved with the 'UBO' EXTENSION. So, for me, that did SOLVE the situation.

I could still WISH to know how to do a CUSTOM FILTER for ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION that would STOP this type of ADS. But the 'UBO' EXTENSION means that NOBODY should waste excessive energy for me on this anymore. I would say it that my original question related to a CUSTOM FILTER(s) that works in ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION is still NOT solved. SO, if anyone wants to suggest some other CUSTOM FILTER(s) to try them in ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION, I would do that. BUT again, for me, the problem is solved in that 'switching' to the UBLOCK ORIGIN EXTENSION did successfully block the offending ADS on the ALLKPOP website. So, for me, I consider this matter closed successfully, even though I do NOT have CUSTOM FILTER(s) for ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION that work. Hope that is clear enough. Again, THANKS for the reply help here. :)

NO ; I did NOT have this above FILTER installed. And when I did ADD it to the other previous three CUSTOM FILTERS, it does now WORK SUCCESSFULLY with ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION (WIN OS) on ALLKPOP website to BLOCK the ADS that were annoying me. So, these are the FOUR CUSTOM FILTERS that together get the job done with APB:

Code: Select all

@@||allkpop.com^$generichide
@@||gumgum.com^$script,domain=allkpop.com
@@||allkpop.com/plugin/pb/src/prebid.js
*$websocket,domain=allkpop.com
THANKS to SOLVE this for me using APB CUSTOM FILTERS! :)

--> You had the filter above ;)
Yes, but that was awhile back. And I had discarded it as not needed. :biggrin:

So, I think that it is GOOD that ALL of the FOUR CUSTOM FILTERS needed to deter ALLKPOP ADS annoyance are clearly identified in our messaging here. I like the idea of knowing how to use ADBLOCK PLUS EXTENSION with a CUSTOM FILTER(s) setup to STOP ADS too. Although here, on my SLOW CPU old laptop, the UBLOCK ORIGIN EXTENSION seems a bit more STABLE and responsive running on my hardware. I APPRECIATE that you were able to figure out the (for me) final missing CUSTOM FILTER that solved my problem. THANKS again for your help! :-)
