In the past 2 days I've began observing unskippable 15 to 30 seconds ads on Youtube either pre-roll or mid-stream.

Here is a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/w5dFlzy.png

and uBlock Origin Logs:

Script https://bpaste.net/raw/d3a62c8f5974

XHR https://bpaste.net/raw/8ddf29a18fb1

I can't be sure, but it seems to have started when googlevideo.com started fetching videos from URL formatted similarly to this:

Code: Select all

https://r15---sn-ab5l6nlk.googlevideo.com/videoplayback
A dozen or so people also seem to be experience similar issues:

I would log a github ticket for uBo if you see ads, I'm not seeing anything here.

Ads on VOD content plagues the service. Hoping it can be fixed.

Hello All, I hope I posted in the correct place for my issue.

When going to Youtube.com main page at the top, they push an Advert and added a "Close Ad" link at the bottom right of the advert, however I would like all this to go away, the Ad itself, and the "Close Ad" link or button whatever that is. Can this be done and how would I go about telling Adblock Plus to filter this annoying Ad and recover the space it is taking? I am very new to ABP so I need step by step instructions...

Here is a .jpg pic below of the Ad with the Close Ad link at the bottom right corner of the Ad:

Code: Select all

So I'm quite confused here. Recently these little channel bubbles have been appearing in videos.
image

Sometimes it's to a high profile channel (Like you see in the provided image), other times, less so (one was a channel with no videos). What I'm confused about is that they only show up in firefox. I know this isn't an ad in the technical sense, but nonetheless I want it gone.

@Matt98

Dropbox.com Error 403 = Forbidden to see the image.
Use imgur.com, cubeupload.com, imgland.net or vgy.me for uploading your pics and provide an example link.

Sorry, first time on this site, not sure how things work. All I really know is sometimes, when watching videos, there's a channel bubble linking to a random channel not affiliated with the uploader. Maybe youtube is trying something out to promote related channels, I'm not sure, but it came about suddenly and is not at all consistent. Could you tell me what you want from me that would help?

When you see this "channel bubble" submit an Adblock Plus issue report (firefox) and post the link here.

I can reproduce this error.
Adblock Plus including screenshot: https://reports.adblockplus.org/157d868 ... d05e079fed
Youtube is displaying a little bubble in the upper left corner with the advertiser logo: https://i.imgur.com/lVoZHiK.png
In this case it's linking to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC766vkQw0Mz3VtXX5XvXxGQ

Nothing suspicious for me in yr issue report and even completely disabling ABP youtube does not show me that element :-/

Maybe you should install EHH https://adblockplus.org/elemhidehelper and try to create yourself the hiding rule for that bubble.

Reporting the issue tells me that the filter ||ggpht.com^ was disabled. However, upon activating the filter, it then proceeded to remove all channel logos. I assume that's where youtube collects channel logos from. I think it's bugging somehow, and the logo from the ad is carrying over to the video. It seems entirely inconsistent with no rhyme or reason.

@thor77 @Matt98 Test:

Code: Select all

youtube.com##.ytp-ce-channel
or

Code: Select all

youtube.com##.ytp-ce-channel-this

Nope, the filter detects it, but it doesn't get rid of it. Using inspect element brings up
"<div class="ytp-title-channel">"
Is that useful?

Try

Code: Select all

youtube.com##.ytp-title-channel

Yes! Thank you, that got rid of it. Also, that adblock plus element hider helper? I tried to install it, but can't due to a connection error. Maybe the download link is dead? This is firefox btw.

Starting today 8/29/17 ad blocking no longer works on youtube. They did do a site redesign so I am assuming it is related.
Happens on all videos that contain ads.

i want to report that the "youtube pure video experience" filters dont work anymore with the new design
i was told on adlbock plus forum to report here: https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic ... 23&t=53509

@jujitsu1 No ads here, update your filters list / submit an adblock plus issue report and post here the link.

@asdfag3eta Provide an example video and what do you want to hide/block (with screenshot) and we will try to help you.
(or wait the update of list maintainer).

smed79 well the standard stuff that the "pure video experience" list should block (see: https://youtube.adblockplus.me/ (block all elements))

i think that @montza is the maintainer i first reported in adblock plus forum but they told me to report here

i dont think that hes aware that the list doesnt work anymore bcos the new design has been popping up for months
i strongly doubt it would take that long to fix the list
