Looks like they're changing domains in order to restore google ads.

current domain - ocyfvyvk5lnla2basjqgvmc2qaraaudcxjviq2da.grazedrumpusroom.com

please add 'acceptable ads' when checking (seems like they take advantage over 'acceptable ads' list)/

Thanks

There are some really annoying ads on investopedia.com that I just can't seem to be able to get rid off. They don't appear on every load of the page, but on most. Its a top banner, a sidebar banner (sometimes two) and another banner below the article. Note I have Acceptable Ads turned OFF.

It seems the ads are loaded via a call here:

Code: Select all

http://pubads.g.doubleclick.net/activity;xsp=197334;ord=3622752446417.6606?
However, its impossible to block this call, because of this whitelist entry in Easylist:

http://pastebin.com/raw/AASt6ULq

In my quest to block these ads, I came across a bevy of trackers that Investopedia foists on your browser as well, which for some reason are not blocked:

Code: Select all

||rlcdn.com^$third-party
||statsevent.com^$third-party
||agkn.com^$third-party
||crwdcntrl.net^$third-party
||dynamicyield.com^$third-party
||chartbeat.com^$third-party
||turn.com^$third-party
||adnxs.com^$third-party
||schwab.demdex.net^$third-party
||rundsp.com/redirect?ex=adx&id=
||statsevent.com^$third-party
||tynt.com^$third-party
Blocking these results in significantly fewer 3rd party JS calls, and the page becomes a lot faster.

Those ads are coming from a WebRTC connection. On Chrome run alongside - chrome://webrtc-internals to investigate further.

Mark is right, these are indeed ads created WebRTC connections, many websites are using this workaround to show ads. I had to deal with similar ads on xda-developers.com: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/190.
Also, the whitelist filter is not causing the ads to load it was probably added to stop something from breaking on the website.

These ads can be stopped using uBlock Origin which can block these WebRTC connections.

Blank ad header on

Code: Select all

http://www.investopedia.com
Error URL:

Code: Select all

http://www.investopedia.com/video/play/what-socialism/

Code: Select all

investopedia.com##.ad-leaderboard
I see a lot of ad elements with "leaderboard" in them what does it mean?

yes:

1. for firefox switch OFF webrtc
2. for chrome use the last dev build of ABP and filters like:

Code: Select all

*$webrtc,domain=example.com

can someone teach me how to block this: https://ibb.co/i20j9b
it pops out after about 1-2 minutes on the main page of investopedia. subdomains have smaller popups.
i blocked it with

Code: Select all

www.investopedia.com##.bx-wrap
www.investopedia.com##.bx-slab
www.investopedia.com###bx-shroud-525875
but it always comes back.

Did you try using fanboy's annoyances list ?

or only this filter:
